BBK-Wheel clearance question

So, I've an AP Racing BBK fitted on my car, together with TD Prorace 1.2 wheels. When the BBK was fitted, the mech insisted that the clearance between the wheel spokes and the caliper was too thin, and that I needed a spacer.

I followed his advice and decided to fit spacers on all wheels, leaving it to him to buy and fit them before getting the car back. Now, though, I'm wondering how much is a minimum safe clearance between the caliper and the spokes, as I'd like to fit smaller spacers, or, if possible, to remove them completely.

Brembo calls for a 3 millimeter minimum between spoke & caliper. (But do be sure to actually measure rather than just eyeballing the clearance.)

Thanks, I'll carefully measure the space I have now and the spacer thickness then, and value if I can reduce the spacer thickness ( he installed 15mm spacers)
