Minis start to its resurrection

I figured the majority of owners dont get into this type of deal so I thought it would be entertaining to see how I bring the mini back to life..Its second chance.

The pics of the car as purchased are in my gallery.Kinda getting into to this little guy..lol..

Here are a couple pics of the interior out and another getting ready for some persision cuts...Dont want to get anything good infected!

to be continued...

Here is the pic of the lobotomy. Have the outer skin removed.

Who ever said the sunroof doesn't weigh 50 lbs hasnt a clue. I dont know what the glass weighs but the assembly minus glass isn't lite.

I have put several roofs on and this car is built very well. Really... Wouldnt be afraid to roll one of these.

the remains of roof..

Latter..Jim

The roofs on these cars are plenty strong... Whatever fell on yours must have had lots of momentum and mass.

Good going and keep working it, looking forward to the next step. When it's finished it would be great to have a total bill for the rebuild original cost+parts+time involved.

Are you going to put a sunroof back in it, or go solid?

Where will you get the new skin, factory part or cut out of a wrecked car?

slow progress..hell working away from home for months..

Roof painted and all glass in but windshield installed. Interior installed. Getting there.

need an antenna base. The one I got was wrong. Need rear view mirror and misl. clips and bits.. No hurry till spring.

I changed the roofs color to pepper white from black. I live in the country and dust is always around and I dont over wash stuff..I think I like it better now. At first I was torn but past that now..Color of mirrors next.. Black or pw...hummmmm Latter

Well here it is.99% done. Just need an antenna which I just ordered.Havent got to drive it yet. Needs inspected and snow to go away.! I changed the roof color to pepper white also.Added a JCW style grille.I moved the front turn signals to the fog lamp assembly with LED lamps and also moved the parking lamps that share the same housing.I plugged the original holes as shown before.I removed the hood stripes. Also bought and painted the dash redish to go with the seats. Cant decide what style of stripe to add at the moment. The pic shows the turn signals flashing

Impressive results. How does it drive? All of the structural rigidity has been restored?

Wish I knew the story...I bought it off ebay.lol! It wasnt hurt bad really.I wasnt afraid I could find much more that I saw but the missing parts were a pisser..Headrests,antenna, dash inserts rear view mirror. Little stuff. They almost had the carbon fiber scoop off. Had 2 loose nuts left holding it on..
i was wanting something fun to drive and sister has a mcs. She loves to drive hers so I figured it would be fun..Miles were right.24000..6 speed so my soon to be driving daughter will not be able to drive it..lol..At least not till I teach her how to drive a stick. I bought the boy a stick for his first car and told him everyone needs to learn to drive a manual...(except my wife and daughter!) LOL..

the repair doesnt jeopardize the strength at all. I usually weld more than factory..
Thanks for all your support and help from this group. Jim
