General Question and Information

Figure it might be helpfull to have a general forum where folks could ask general question about the event.

The MOTD website is HERE

The MOTD Facebook page is HERE

To receive MOTD email updates click HERE

I'll be reworking the website over the next two months. Anyone want to include a day drive or other event let me know. Hope to have "day drive" sign ups available in late October and registration open around January 10th again

I see Fontana is already booked solid. Will there be people looking for others to share cabins with?

There is always is, and there are also people needing to get rid of their cabin outright. Just keep an eye on the forum and ask Fontana if you can get on a waitlist.

So how are people getting there ... Only kidding.

This will be a first for me and am curious if people form MINI caravans from various regions of the country, in my case from New England.

I know we have plenty of folks coming from that area. Check out the State by State list from last year HERE. I would suggest posting a new thread as the event gets closer next year (maybe in Feb).

Thanks Snooter

Been a MINI owner for less than a month and am already thoroughly addicted to the twisties. Last 4 cars have been BMWs but they were nowhere as much fun as this.

I already put in for vacation and booked "the last room" at Fontana (or so I'm told) so I can't wait.

Be prepared to have the time of your life. Our first MOTD was in 2006 and we booked our room the last day of the event for the following year and have been going ever since !!

I was able to book a room in the Lodge today, however the reservation person implied that there is no wait list. I too am looking for a cabin, and we should keep track of cancellations here some where, maybe?

At Fontana? When I went to the website it has those dates completely blocked off in red... I assumed that meant they were completely full and calling wouldn't help any...

I made the same assumption after checking the website over the weekend but when I called earlier this week they had "one more room" left.

OK, here is the scoop. I just called and they have a queen lodge room left, some "sweetheart rooms" and a couple of cabins and they will be taking names for a wait list after those are gone. Let me know if you are told otherwise.

I just booked a queen room. They said they are very limited on rooms.

Susi was told no rooms at all, and no cabins, when she called last week. Susi asked them to put us on a wait list for any cabin opening up and they said ok. Susi called back yesterday and they booked us for a room in the lodge and when asked about the wait list for a cabin the woman had no clue.

Sorry for the second post, but I can't get it to load the Edit page.

Anyways, does anyone have a phone number for Tapoco Lodge? If Fontana doesn't have anything open then I was just going to call them. They don't have rates posted and I can't find a phone number. I did fill out the contact form once and emailed them once last week but never got a response.

Ps. How much am I going to have to expect to pay for 4 nights?

I called Fontana. It sounds like there are 2 (maybe 3) rooms left. Honeymoon suite ($199/night) and Cabana ($179/night).

So I'm still looking... I was hoping for a $300ish (or less), not $700ish place to stay.

Wowzers, I guess I need to get on with getting organized. I see on the MOTD website there are quite a few who go. Pretty good turnout from NAM?

last year we had 635 registrations. I would say the majority of folks visit NAM from time to time

Tapoco Lodge was closed down last year and for sale; it sold and has a new owner; website says they will be open Spring 2011, so they may have rooms...http://www.tapocolodge.com/

most who go, book their room/cabin for next year when they check out. That's why so few (if any) rooms available for that weekend

I have limited response myself, but they did respond one time saying they hoped to be able to start taking reservations in November.
