I know there are ton's of threads on this and I did look at some of them but can someone point me to a step by step ( fog light install for idiot's ). Can I use my own switch or do I have to buy the toggle bank things like that I can't find as always thank you in advance

 

You need the toggle from mini...it is electronic, and it needs to be reprogrammed at the dealer I think...So when you flip the switch, the BCM will energize the circurit...the actual toggle switches are just electronic switches...not low voltage switches connected to a relay like on older cars....
One question...does your tail lights have the spots for the rear fogs?
Mini changed the rear lights in 05...to get rid of the rear back-up light in the center, lower bumper...I think the back-ups were put in the old rear fog location...and we all got the filler plate.
On an 05, you can buy a kit, to install the fog light, or an extra brake light in the unused location...
Go-mini-go has the kit...mini mania does too I think...

 

When was your 05 built (look on the door jamb for the month/year)? If it was built after 11/2004, buy the fog light and plug it into the wiring. Swap the toggle panel with one that has the rear fog switch, and have the dealer program it. If your 05 was built earlier, the wiring is missing and you have to install that as well.

I have an 6/05 build got rid if the black plate and put the for light housing in now I will take it out find the connector put in a bulb find the right used toggle bank install it and have the car coded that should be it
