SuperCharger bad

My supercharger is bad. It was making an awful noise and Mini said that it has to be replaced. My question is what could happen if I drive it home with out the fix? Can I dammage anything else?

Home is about a 20-25 minute drive.

Years ago I was in your exact situation. Dealer told me my s/c was bad, they ordered one, and told me it was OK to drive until the replacement arrived. I got 5 miles from the dealer when the s/c seized and engine stopped. Towed back to dealer. Didn't do any damage, but then I wasn't going very fast.

Did they isolate the supercharger problem area? ie snout bearings, coupler, rotor pack bearings, water pump drive gears?

If you do drive it, keep a very close eye on the water temp. If the supercharger fails, it could conceivably cause your water pump to stop pumping.

I would say don't drive your MINI. If the supercharger is making noise, it's more than likely a bearing issue (or at least a part of metal rubbing metal). There is no way to really tell how long it will be before the bad parts sieze up. And I would not take the advice of a technician or SA telling me it's OK to drive it. Are they going to warranty any additional damage that occurs? Is the choice to drive home going to be put in writing in the repair ticket?

If you are at the dealer, they should be providing you with a loaner.

Yeah, elaborating a bit on Helix's comment, the water pump is attached to and is driven by the supercharger. If the gears are being destroyed and thus causing vibration, you WILL loose the water pump and adding $200 parts and another chunk for labor to your bill.
Play it safe bud.
Good luck.
