15" wheels on R56?

Will 15" wheels fit over R56 brakes? I tend to like the look of smaller diameter, wider wheels with meaty tires - say 15x8 wheels with 225/45-15 tires. Will 15" wheels fit an R56 or are the brakes too big?

If you've got 15's on your car (especially with a mildly lowered ride height) I'd love to see pics...

Is yours an "S" or a JustaCooper?

My '08 JustaCooper has stock 16" wheels. I run 15" steelies in the winter with some winter tires. They fit just fine, no problems. I believe that the "S" has slightly larger brakes and the 15's won't work in that case.

As far as tire size with a lowered suspension, you're on your own there. My ride height is stock.

OEM MINI 15" wheels will not clear the MCS brakes

TireRack lists a few 15" that will fit on an R56 MCS, including Enkei PF01 15x7 and Enkei PF01 15x8. Not sure about clearance for a 225 wide tire. It also matters if you have a lowered suspension.

On the TireRack site, to list 15" for an MCS, you need to select a winter package. Their standard configurator won't list wheels smaller than OEM factory size (16" for an MCS).

a note to Alex@TireRack.com will get you an answer. I almost bought the Enkei RPFs myself for that very reason.

BTW the 15" package gets you more thrust at the contact patch on acceleration and braking due to the slightly shorter radius.. good for about 4% if I remember my earlier studies.

I run Kosei 15x7, but mine is a 1st gen.

Cheers,

Charlie

Depends on the wheel. Some aftermarket wheels are so stinking heavy as to loose any advantage of the rotational inertia being less. I read a really funny tuner magazine piece one time where several shops fixed up come RSX's. Of course 20 inch bling-bling rims were part of both cars. CAI and all the usual bolt on junk. They were totally mystified as to why the cars were slower in the quarter, slower on the skid pad, and rode like garbage. Really, they did not have a clue. Sad. Really sad. ( Let's not discuss how much the "17" silver lites weigh)

I run stock 16's on my MCS. Light ones. Someday, I want to get wider rims, Enki, Oz, or something so I can run 215's.
