DREYER AND REINBOLD MINI?? What happened to Customer Service????

Why would MINI call someone at 530pm to tell them that there car is ready to be picked up, then close at 600pm when you told them you were on your way to pick the car up. I got there doors are locked and I cant pick up my car!!!!! After a 120 miles today Im going to have someones head tomorrow.

I posted this on the local forum Im pissed

Hey D&R Im calling you out.

What the hell ever happened to Customer Service??? Really???

The first time I brought my Mini to you for an "appointment" you kept it overnight because you didnt have enough time to get to it. Now I understand things happen throughout the work that may hamper the schedule a bit. However you didnt call me until the last possible second of the work day?? Not very convenient.

The second time I brought you an issue with the steering. You changed a ball joint and said it was fine. I got all the way home to discover the problem still existed brought it back and you fixed it right that time. The only problem with all this is I told you the car made the noise when it wasnt moving or at low speed. Why did my average fuel economy go from 26.8 to 12.1?? Yeah I have a pretty good idea what happened on that "test drive"

Now on to the third and hopefully last problem. I brought my car in today for a free brake service which isnt a big deal the light was on. Why would MINI call someone at 530pm to tell them that there car is ready to be picked up, then close at 600pm when I told you I was on my way to pick the car up. I got there doors are locked and I cant pick up my car!!!!! After a 120 miles today (2 round trips) and another 30 each way tomorrow. Im going to have someones head tomorrow. WTF??? Now if you would have told me that your closing at 6pm weather Im there or not I wouldnt have drove the 30 miles to pick up my car. I would have waited til morning to come pick it up.

Awaiting your public response.

you have to post what they have to say to that and how you make out tomorrow! don't hold back any! keep in mind in the back of your head no matter what bull they throw your way to weasel out of it "customers ALWAYS right." not to get off subject, but what was your steering doing exactly that something needed worked on?

If you turned the wheel at low or very slow speed something was binding and making a knocking sound. It ended up being the steering rack which they replaced.

Sorry to hear about the situation. The round trips can be killer with a dealer..especially if the doors are closed on you.

Could easily be caused by a computer reset (common when cars are being serviced)....right? If they were replacing the steering rack, they would probably disconnect the battery which would in effect reset all stored numbers.

Average fuel economy...(another theory) In addition to what Rally said, they probably sat and idled it after the reset so they could turn the wheel back and forth a couple dozen times to bleed the system. I'd assume that this would keep the newly reset numbers down.

I do understand your frustration. We are all human & we all make mistakes, I know I make my share. Did you tell them that you would be driving a distance to get there? Did you ask them how long they would be open so you could pick up your car? If not I think it's maybe a 50/50 mistake.

Just my .02....

Happy motoring!
