I got my Audi TT style antenna at Momentum Motor It uses the same factory base, you just thread out the old mast and thread in the new one. Reception was not affected.

$34.95 CDN shipped (So ~$23 USD)

Just received a catalog from MiniMainia. http://www.minimania.com
They list a Minature Antenna and report that the reception will be as good if not better than stock.
Mdl.#NMA7500 @ $22.95

I put an S2000 antenna on my fiance's car. It is a lot shorter then the stock. It was like $20 at honda and they had them in stock. It is the same thread as the VW ones so you can buy any of the aftermarket ones for VW's also....Just a thought....

As long as the hole in the base is the same size, it shouldn't matter. The GPS and other components moved into the '05 antenna should be in the base, not the whip.
