Crazy behaving service intervals

2 issues:

I've got a 2007 MCS

I purchased it 2nd hand from the "premium used cars" from the local dealership last march..

The car had 17,500 km's on it (about 11k miles)

I had the car serviced and oil changed etc etc before taking delivery..

the Car now has 45,XXX km's on it (about 28k miles)

the car is still on the same oil

I asked the dealer about it many times, and they tell me "did the service light come on?" i'm like uh no but u know that's alot of mileage for 1 oil change.. "well we wont change it till the oil Service light comes on"

I was thinking when I took my car in on other occasions for service such as rear brakes and stuff.. perhaps they reset the oil interval as well accidently or something...

according the the OCB i don't need an oil change till 02/11 or another 11,000 km's

2nd issue:

about 3-4 weeks ago..

I get in my car in the morning.. start her up.. it says i have 1,000km's till my next service.. I check what it's for.. says front brakpads

so I decide I'll be pro-active and call the dealer.. and get an appointment for the following week... since i put about 100km's a day it'll bring me close enough to get it done under my service package...

so a week rolls by.. still says 1,000km's no bigge

but since then the service interval has been crawling back up!

it's gone up about 100km's a week

it now says my next service is at 1,400 kms!

how did my brake pads "heal" 50%?

if it was oil interval fine... I understand that fluctuates..but brakes?!

my car is approaching 46,000km's and my service package/waranty expires at 50,000...

I swear the car knows and is dragging it out tooth and nail till it rolls over to 50 so that I have to pay for the next service!

Any reason you can't go ahead and change your own oil, or pay someone to do it? I simply don't think it's smart to go 20 - 30K between changes, but that's just me. You are checking the level periodically too, right?

As to the brakes, it's strictly a computer calculation based on the speed and number of miles you drive - if you do a lot of highway driving you're not using your brakes, so the remaining amount doesn't change. but the time/distance it can go, does......

Here in the states, the dealer will change the oil for free at yearly intervals, regardless of what the service counter says.

I think I'd get your oil changed forthwith, and I'd look at your brakes pads and just see how badly they're worn, some folks are a lot easier on brakes than others, even driving the same miles/conditions.....

Oil/Filter should be changed at 1 year regardless - Have you gone 1 year yet? I would have that oil analyzed when you change it - see if it had any life left.

10,000 miles on an oil change would be my max comfort level without oil analysis.
