1st Gen MINI Safety Card

When Ydrolina released her safety card for the classic Mini, I was inspired to create one for the BMW MINI. I've spent the last week working on it.

It ended up more practical than comical. But I think it works. It is a showcase of some of my finest line drawings. Toy models and pictures were instrumental in it's creation. Believe it or not, the seat was drawn from memory then cross checked with a generic alternate perspective photo. Only minor changes were needed. I only included the manga girl because I needed a seating position model.

Full version is in my gallery. Seems ok on this end. Let me know if there is any trouble getting the file. I have not tried to print it yet, since mine is broken.

You really must open it in full to enjoy.

It is free for you to print and keep in your MINI. Print it out onto stiff paper, trim along the purple (if that even prints). Try to get both sides on the same card, maybe laminate it. I'd ask that you do not alter this in any way.

Special thanks to Ydrolina for the original concept, and to ofioliti for encouraging me.

Nice job! Gonna put a copy in the car!

Now I'm gonna have to get one of those window smashers for under the seat.

Nice!!!! It's good to see someone still takes the time to hand draw stuff. Seems e erybody uses computers now a days. Don't forget to laminate them if you use them. They'll last longer.

Thanks everyone. It was drawn with my pen tablet in photoshop with the pencil tool. Each has something like 40 layers to it.

To anyone who prints it out, did it print ok? I could put up a version without the purple boarder. I wanted the corners of the final document to be curved to match the black boarder, with the red stripe continuing off the edge.

I suppose it wouldn't take much to create a cabrio version. It would only be a change to the side and top views, really.

I was also thinking about making an "advanced driving technique" card. It would include my sidestep heel-toe, where to hold the wheel during turns, how to shift with least effort, etc.

This is really cool. Great job. I like the mention to pull the door handle twice; you won't believe how many people had trouble getting out of my car.

Thanks for making this! I think I need a printed copy in my car to help my unknowing passengers figure out how to get out and how to close the door without leaving fingerprints everywhere.
