R50/53 Factory Torque Specs
Factory Torque Specs
I've been floating on this website for some time now, and I feel like I should rant a little to those who know...
Owning a 2006 Pure Silver R50 for the past year has been pretty sweet. Super fun, and the ladies love to go for rides (shame not a bigger back seat, or maybe I could just date gymnasts).
I love to work on cars myself, but this car has been nothing but a headache. First the thermostat went, which was not too bad to fix given some of the threads that are on this forum.
Then last winter I got stuck in some mud which caused one of the speed sensors to go out. This is where everything went very very crappy.
Finally a few weeks ago I was able to really get in there and work on it. I started by trying to take the speed sensor out, no dice, the thing is stuck like the rod in my ex's colon. I decided to just take the hub off. The axle nut required a 10 foot breaker-bar and me on the end pushing as hard as possible. Great it finally broke free, now lets have at these 4 bolts holding the hub on.... Really? They were held on by somewhere around 120-140 ft/lbs. Even after practically getting a hernia taking those things off, I find that the hub is some how "welded" to the strut.
No amount whacking with a hammer even with liberal use of wd-40, rust buster, or other lube could break it free. FINE! I concede defeat, I will take it to a shop sometime. But surely I could change my own oil...
Nope, just like all the other bolts, the drain plug was securely fastened leading to a stripped bolt and a very cheesed off owner. Maybe my mini fails... Maybe I fail at life... All I know is, this sucker is going to the shop from now on.
