Just completed my Joey Mod!!

Man I love the look so much more than all the chrome. 1st one took 6 hours, 2nd took 3. Used plastidip. Did the gas cap, side scuttles and mirror caps too with plastidip. Wednesday the chrome bumper will be replaced with the aero grill

now you HACE to pint the grill. slats. but leave the chrome surround. personally id also turn the headlight rings back chrome as well. i think a black grill chrome grill suround, with joeymodded headlights with the chrome rings looks awesome. im not a big fan on chrome in general, but its about hte ony thing thats even being different enough, but just as reflective as polished black paint, and it helps to break up some of the lines making the features stand out more.
konky's car has the look i described and it looks awesome.

I agree that konkey's looks great, but I hate chrome so much I've already ordered the aerokit grill to replace mine, lol. It will be included in my pics I post later!

I was at first, but it really is a super simple mod to do. the 2nd one was ridiculously easy. Just follow a how-to and take your time on the first one... it's fool proof.

Sorry guys, dslr pics will be up tomorrow!

Nice work. Just black out the rest of the car, lower it, and get new wheels!

^agreed.. not to worry though, Ive got some black ultraleggera's ive been convincing myself that they will be ok to buy within the next month (or hour). I wanna keep the stock ride clearance with 18's, not sure how much of a drop ill need for that. Would coilovers be a must in this case or would I ride just fine with some lowering springs. Ive got 42k on the odo.

That looks great. I've been looking for a black car so I could see what mine would look like. I agree with you on the grill and light surrounds. Just a touch of chrome looks great.

you dont have to bake anything.. I baked the whole headlamp to open it up because I didnt have a heat gun. Then I painted it all with plastidip, put it all back together and rebaked to soften the glue and restick the lens to the housing. dont bake over 230 degrees or the plastidip will bubble if not 100% dry. Like I said, after you do it once it is a super simple and easy mod to do. I have no problem with having to reopen my lens to repaint or clean them out if i have to bc it was such a simple task. JUST DO IT!
