New to the forum

Hey all, my name is Bill. I'm not new to the area, but my wife just picked up a 2007 Mini Cooper S last week. It's her car, but I guess I'm the one that gets to do all the wrenching on it. Anyhow, I'll try and get her to register and be somewhat active on the forum. I'm a Subie owner myself... Anyhow, here's her new ride...

Interior:
-Stock so far

Exterior:
-JCW Carbon Fiber Hood Scoop
-JCW Carbon Fiber Rear Hatch Handle
-Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps
-Carbon Fiber S Scuttles

-Alta Cold Air Intake
-Alta Front Mount Intercooler

Suspension and Braking:
-H&R Springs
-Alta 19mm Rear Sway Bar
-ASA Revolution 17x7.5 Wheels
-Yokohama S Drives 215/40/17
-Painted Calipers

On the way...
-Out Motoring Coilovers (Koni Yellow's with 400lb & 600lb Spring Rates)
-Alta Rear Lower Control Arms

nice looking car! welcome! check the meeting thread or Facebook to see when we meet (3rd Sunday of the month. 1pm @ Dunkin Donuts at Tanger). We meet there and decide what kind of lunch, a drive, whatever. Very informal and laidback.

Adesso,

Welcome to the forums.....I heard you frequent NASIOC as well!!!

Nope, I'm not psychic or anything, we have a mutual friend(probably several). Mesa50, mad Piper and I cant remember Matt Rentz's handle. Matter of fact, Matt Church was talking about your car last week at lunch.

Anyway, like Mike said...Nice ride.

Feel free to bring the MINI and the Subie to our meets........Subie would have to lead though , at least until the corners.

Take care, Chad

hahaha, thanks for the warm welcomes! I do indeed frequent NASIOC quite a bit, I can't figure out why though...

I'd definitely like to swing by and check your meets out sometime. I'm really trying to get my wife into forums, but it's difficult as she doesn't like being on computers too much. She is turning into quite the car buff, though...

I'll be sure to bring out the Mini and my Scooby out sometime, and you can bet the Scooby will be leading... not just in the straights, but in the corners as well... she has more done to her suspension than she does under the hood.

That was me that was talking to you on NASIOC (scoobie1 over there). Bring 'em both! We have enough Subie fans and former owners in the group.

You know Chad, since Subie's seem to frequent your shop so much we really should have a joint Mini/Subaru mod and meet sometime. I think there were 4 WRX/STi owners at the last Mini mod meet?

Jarid, I'm not at all sure if Jeff Perrin remembers me at all, it's been quite a few years since I did the Perrin rotated kit, but at one time I was in constant contact with Jeff when I was doing my upgrade as I was having problems getting the fitment right on my kit. It was a very early rotated kit, and Jeff's solution to a big portion of the fitment problem was using a silicone boost tube coming out of the compressor housing to join up with the first section of FMIC piping. It was a pretty exciting time and being one of the early STi's fitting the GT30R set-up was a blast... Well, in hindsight it was. But in the end, it proved to be a very successful venture and well, I can let the results speak for themselves...

My road racing map that's a mix of 100 and 91 Octane

I think a combined meet would be really cool. In fact, and not to take away from NAM at all, but you guys are more than welcome to check out my forum. It's not make specific other than it being set up to be an Import only forum to support the import community in the Charleston area. You can check it out here...

That's one sick MINI! Those 17's look like 18s in the pics. Must be the dropped suspension. I recently traded my '06 Black STi for my '09 Cooper S. It will never be a Subie but I'm still loving the MINI. Now if I can get mine to look as slick as yours. I don't have the green to drop on all the upgrades I want to do at once... in fact it my be a while before I get to do much at all to mine... See you on the boards and hopefully a meet. I agree that a combined meet would be sweet!

Soooo... let me get this straight... I buy a factory iPod integration kit for the Mini from the Charleston dealer... I figure I'll save myself a few bucks on the install and do it myself... only to find out that I have to take it to them anyway to get it the ECU updated so it'll work? WTF?!! Not to mention I feel like I'm getting raped to the tune of an additional $130.00 to have it done? LAME!!!

Agreed! The same applies to things like the bluetooth integration. From some of the MINI parts sites, it looks like I can get the parts for around $75 but they want to charge $1500 to program the vehicle and install the parts. Ridiculous!! Not that it's an excuse but to their credit, I am saving more in gas per year over my STi that I could easily pay for those upgrades over the next year or so but it's still insane. If I thought I could get away with it, I would get a new countryman and turn it into a road going rally version. After I see how they do in the WRC of course. I'd have to find a way to import some Prodrive parts since I'm sure the AWD on the stock Countryman is probably garbage and mostly front bias like my Volvo.

That IS a great color but I actually love the dark silver version with black accents and the brick red leather seating and trim. If I ever order a customized one, that's probably what I'd put on the list. Though, my next vehicle will hopefully be a 2011/12 STi sedan.
