Norm here, have been around a long time but too busy to post anything for a while. I hang out mostly at the roadfly message boards...

anyway, I am getting down on one knee and proposing marriage to my girlfriend of 8 years this Christmas Eve.... got a ring picked out and everything.... but don't have the money to actually PAY for said ring...

am selling my CD collection on Ebay, as well as anything else not nailed down that I can find and take a picture of.

Seriously, I have an amazing CD collection - come one come all....

My ebay home page.

I'd appreciate any help anyone wants to offer....

Mostly CD's at the moment, but lots of diecasts as well (including some mini's, though not up at the moment.)

Got some cameras, minidisk player, firearms, and possibly even an apple G4 Cube for sale....

oh... and a 1971 BMW R75/5....

ebay is mostly CD's at the moment though...

She has NO IDEA... she's guessed this is what I am doing but I've totally tried and throw her off, even told her in no uncertain terms that I am NOT proposing to her yet....

cruel I know, but it must be done to ensure the surprise.

The ring has been picked out and a deposit made, it's actually being custom made. Found a good diamond merchant with a great rep in the area, lots of people I know have bought from him, so I went with hat in hand and told him my story. Picked out a ready made ring and am having it alterred style wise and a nice stone placed in it. Nothing extravagant, less than a carat total weight, but high quality. Some day when I don't have bills to pay I'll upgrade the stone to something better if she wants, but for now I think it's gonna be a winner.

okay, took some pictures of the ring.... still owe over $800 on it before I can give it to her.... once again, anyone that wants to help should check out my ebay auctions by going to my homepage - Normalizer's Ebay homepage

And, here's a picture of the ring. Hard to focus in on something small and shiny, but it gives you an idea...

Thanks! Still owe a little over $600 on it, so am really trying to list as much as possible on ebay, but the problem is that the fees end up cost as much as I am selling....

anybody interested in helping, go to ebay and do a search for me as a seller. I use the same name there as here, normalizer.

Thanks!

Congratulations! good luck with your auctions- I will check them out. I met you and your girlfriend on the '03 Dragon Run, I was in the SG/W with flowers decals. I think you guys are a great couple and wish you the best of luck! my husband proposed to me on New Year's Eve so I understand how the holiday will be extra special from here on out for you guys! yay!

Amanda
ps. its a gorgeous ring- I am sure she will love it! and my husband did that trick of assuring me that it was not the time to get married too so I was totally surprised. just make sure there's some kleenex around!

just came home from work, am getting cleaned up and heading over to her place....

got a bottle of '95 Dom Perignon, the year we had our first date, chilled and ready but plans might change for the champagne....

was gonna drink the champagne with her alone, but just found out that our best friend's son just walked in on leave from the Army as an MP in Baghdad.... I think we will instead drive over and use it to toast his safe return, plus that way she can show off her ring....

Sigh....

very VERY nervous.

pictures and the story will be up probably tomorrow at the following website:

http://www.jeff-jenkins.com

for now it redirects to my ebay page....

Great luck on the night Normalizer and if you see the individual who just returned please give him my best for the unthankful work he does. He and all who serve are special to me being a veteran myself.

I'll second that. The size of the ring doesn't matter at all. I got pain bands - no stone - but upgradded later.

Congratulations!!!

It kinda bugs me when people post just to point out a grammatical error someone made. Kinda patronizing if you ask me...

Anyway, good luck in the marriage, I hope you get all that stuff sold!

It really wasn't intended that way. I actaully found some humor in the accidental use of the phrase "pain bands" when talking about wedding bands. Sorry if you didn't appreciate it.

I'm certainly not a grammar expert as my GMAT would attest to.

Anyway, no harm done, all good brotha!
