Grab your rubber ducky and let’s head for Winchester Bay, home of
the famous Umpqua Lighthouse and Oregon Dunes National Recreation
Area. The cartographers have been working overtime plotting out
challenging roads for MINIs, many never available in the past, but now
paved to perfection. They’ll be a party goin’ on at the “penthouse” at
the Winchester Bay Inn. We will not be transversing I-5 all the way
to Reedsport, so disengage the Dynamic Stability Control and tuck it
up – these roads are assuredly fun. Once we arrive there are
interesting restaurants and shopping all within walking distance; and oh
yes, there will be a real mandated sunset cocktail time overlooking
something. And of course the return venture with the group on
Sunday will be thrilling also – fun ride!
Meet-Up: At the Safeway parking lot in Dallas OR. 8:30am meetup with roll
out at 9:30am. Be sure you and the car are filled before we leave.
Directions: The Dallas Safeway is located at 138 West Ellendale Ave, off
Hwy 223. It can be reached via Hwy 22W through Salem or Hwy 99W from
Portland. Past Hwy 99W bear left at Hwy 223 for 3.4 miles (signs to Dallas).
Continue on East Ellendale Ave for 0.6 mile. It’s a small town – you can’t miss
it. If you become absolutely stumped, contact our Event Coordinator at
events-tours@pdxmini.org.
Lodging Instructions: Please make your own reservations for the night of
Saturday June 26th. All reservations must be made by Saturday May
15th to guarantee a spot. We will be staying in Winchester Bay, so call the
property and talk to our contact person, Diane. She is accommodating and
very pleased to host our PDX MINI club. Mention you are with "PDX MINI"
and receive a 20% discount. So we can all stay in the same building please
request a room between numbers 25 and 36. If those rooms are taken ask
for 19 to 23. Rates average $69.00-86.00 plus 6% tax for a room, more for
a suite. Up to 2 pets are accepted at a $5.00 each extra charge.
