Where to place a XM unit in Mini S?

Hi!

I have a 2009 Mini S and a XM external unit. Right now it is attached to the cubby just below the stereo. Problem is that it's so far down it's hard to navigate. It does have a remote though....

I just don't like the idea of placing it on an "arm" that swings around into the passenger side leg space (close to the dash but still in the of people's legs on the left side.

Another question is this: Does turning off the engine turn off the XM unit or is it still on (without turning off the unit itself) and therefore draining the car battery? Anyone have any experience with this?

Love XM but the placement of the unit is a pain and as a result I have not been using it :( My iPod is my best friend but would love to use XM too.....

Thanks!!

I have a sportster unit in the cubby hole, just in front of the sport button. No problem with navigating, I keep the remote in the groove under the e-brake. Power supply depends on which fuse you hardwire into. Some shut off with the fob, some go up to 30 minutes (If I remember correctly).
There are a couple of post to read in the Navigation and Audio section that provide good intel.
Motor on!

Get a Kuda mount or the Craven mount. It will mount next to the left side of the tach. Check out the threads on both on NAM
