Can the 12V outlet in the back of the Mini Cooper S Clubman handle? With all the talk about dumping run flat tires, carrying a compressor and slime or just needint to air up the compact spare, how many amps can the fuse in the 12V outlet handle and how hard is it to replace if blown? I've seen some that say they are 30 amps, but if that's too much for the system are you going to be in the dark if you blow a fuse?

I have the continental comfort kit (or whatever it's called) and it's works just fine in the cig lighter. Comes with gel tire filler, too.

 

I went with the cordless. Slow but it does not need the 12V connection.

 

I've got one of those, but it's kinda big for the Mini. Used to carry it in my camper or Weekend Warrior. Looking at Pep Boys at a 12v high volume that looks like it will work OK.

 

There are compressors that come with Mercedes and Porsches that are self-contained in a hard shell and are pretty compact. I have one in my 03 Mini and it fits in the side compartment with the jack quite nicely. It runs on the cigarette lighter with no problems. IIRC the cigarette lighter has a 15A fuse. There should be no problem with using a compressor plugged into any auxiliary 12V power outlet.
