Just taking a shot here but was wondering if any current or previous classic Mini owners are in my area of SoCal. I'm in Glendora in the San Gabriel Valley. I'd love to meet up with someone who might be able to take a look and a drive in my car and give me their opinion. I'd also be glad to pay someone to give me a little help and instruction on some basic mechanics and some not so basic. It looks like my engine is going to neeed to come out eventually and I'd like to be involved as much as possible in the process. I'm looking at starting with the brakes as they seemed pretty weak and I am quickly getting the idea that my car was taken good care of cosmetically but not much has been done maintenance wise so there are probably lots of parts that are going to need to be replaced and unfortunately I'm a novice home mechanic.

I live in La Puente area which is about 7 miles from Glendora. I have a 1971 Austin Mini 1275 I am putting some work into. Also looking for meets, but as for now car can not be driven. Should be ready in next couple weeks.
