First service tomorow morning....what to expect
I am at 18,500 miles and i changed my oil to mobile 1 0-40 at 5k and again at 15k.....how should i deal with that with the dealer? Just let them change it?
I am hearing some brake pad noise...seems early...and i have not received any service lights..will they check them?
I Had the broken yellow check engine light a couple times over the winter..i will mention that to them, but now that it is warmer i doubt they will address it.
I have what sounds like a little bit of deaseling noise...but from what i have read this is 100% normal? i am going to bring it up....but i expect them to say its normal.
So basically i am going to be driving a couple hours to get an oil change i don't really need...but am doing it to keep in good graces with my dealer?

You should not have any problems. They will do maintenance I service which includes oil and filter change, fuild checks and brake insepection. If you are having any problems including brakes let them know and they should take care of it. BTW it's all free!
I was somewhat disappointed at my late March 1-year service appointment. While they did perform an oil change (which really did not make a difference to me as I change my own oil) and replaced the front and back wiper blades, they did not replace the air filter or cabin air filter. I requested that they be changed but they were not. IMO, the cost for an air filter & cabin air filter vs. a perceived lack of true customer warranty service is extremely small. I am one who thinks both of these filters should be replaced, at a minimum, of one time per year. These are the type of considerations which I am chronicling and will review when my Clubby approaches the closure of the 3 year warranty period.
First, why is this in the Navigation & Audio forum?
To the subject:
At this service they should replace the brake fluid. They did on mine. So, I expect they will inspect the brakes, but you should definitely tell them about the noise.
IMO, 0W-40 seems a bit thick for the MINI, since it was designed for 5W-30. I'd let them change it. My choice is Castrol Syntec 0W-30 European Formula.
When do you hear the "deaseling noise"? Is it at cold start or warm idle? If at cold start, have you looked at the cold start chatter threads? If it is that, definitely tell them about it. You want to get that fixed ASAP.
If it is at warm idle, is it a ticking sort of sound? That's normal. Just the injectors.
The interior filter is supposed to be changed at this service. MINI of Mountain View changed mine, but the used the standard filter. I have the Auto Climate Control which is supposed to get the carbon filter. Pissed me off when I discovered it.
They do a few other things at this service. It is more than an oil change, and you need to have it done for warranty purposes.
