iPod "fadeout" after a couple songs

I apologize in advance if this has already been covered (I did a "search" and didn't see anything):

While on a recent and very long roadtrip, while attempting to listen to some songs on my iPod, it would play for a few songs and then do a real quick "fadeout" and stop. Attempting to get it to play again proved nothing. We unplugged it, rebooted/repowered, and so on and same thing again: a couple of songs and then nothing. The iPod was fully charged. It is a 2nd gen Nano. It was connected via the factory-installed iPod connector in the secret compartment in my 2007 MCS. I was choosing what songs I wanted to listen to off of the CD4 through my factory NAV; I have the songs sorted by genre where each genre is set as A-Z, so if I wanted to listen to the Beatles I'd go to B and R.E.M. songs would be under R, etc.

I don't usually listen to the iPod in the car as Sirius/XM is usually sufficient, but driving 2200 miles over 2 days, I wanted to listen to some of my own music but couldn't.

Qquestion. Did the radio stay connected to the iPod? of id dit change inputs to the radio or CD?

There are a number of complaints about the system just changing inputs randomly but just fading out as you describe I have not heard of this.

It stayed on iPod. The input did not change. We have another iPod here that I am going to try to see if maybe it was an iPod issue.

I have been having an issue where the left front door speakers will buzz loudly after about two songs.. changed the ipod, didnt help.. Dealer gave me a new cord.. That didnt help.. but i have narrowed it down to that speaker and only with the Ipod cord connected thru the aux and usb..

Odd..

You may need to adjust your AUX input volume.

I tried that.. isnt it odd that it is only with the USB hooked up? when you run it off of just the aux it is fine..
