I'm sure Snooter would know the anwser to this. Has there been any MINI's that have crashed on the Dragon at any of the past seven events?

 

I do not think we have had any MINIs crash on the Dragon. We have had at least 4 on 28 (1 hit a deer), and 1 on the Skyway (a bear hit him).

I remember seeing someone off the road (2008) near the turn where Killboy sets up. Not technically a crash, but he was pretty far off the road.

 

Well for one a MINI slid off the road and rolled turning from 129 southbound onto 28 at the Crossroads. Maybe two years ago? I have a picture of the modified roof somewhere.

 

Right I forget who that was, but IIRC he was from Indianapolis, and it was reported that he was playing with his GPS. Wrecked just past the dumpsters. that was 2007.

Big Daddy about a mile down 28 from Fontatna 2 years ago, 2008.

Jr from MiniFini last year, 2009, along 28 between Fontana and Deals Gap. (this may have been on the Dragon, I can't really remember.)

colinsmini hit a dear on the way to deals gap from Fontana in 2008.

Bearslayer had the bear jump into him on the Skyway in 2006.

 

i came a across a guy that ran his r53 right in to a bank at the start 2 years ago. hit the bank so hard he cracked 3 cilender walls. not good

 

I do believe that Kamofrogg had a accident in Nano that was actually on the Dragon. (but is in October and not during the MOTD) But it appears that the Hellbender seems to be more accident prone than the Dragon

 

A lot of people think that once they are off the Dragon and onto Hwy 28, they can go ***** to the wall. I am sure their thinking is "we are off the Dragon and now it's clear sailing to Fontana Village". Baaaad mistake...while not as intense as the Dragon, there are still a lot of twisties to go thru before they reach Fontana Village. Plus, after going over the Dragon, there's juuust a bit of laxness---inattentiveness or just being tired, as one gets onto Hwy 28 [for the reason given above].

If I remember, I thought it was the MINIFINI car that went off right past the dumpsters coming off the Dragon on to 28???

 

3 yrs. ago there was a pepper white that was on it's side up against a steep bank of the Dragon. Not sure who it was they were all outside the vehicle and not hurt (I think not badly hurt). Last year I heard that MINIFINI went off on Hellbender. Also I know that one of our local club members went off of the Dragon and way down over a hill but it was a few years prior to my first Dragon visit so I don't know which MOTD it was or which point it happened.

 

I think there have been two incidents at that location a couple of years apart. I think the first was in 2006 and then last year.
