Where to buy fluid for CVT 2002 Cooper

Does anyone know where to get the proper CVT fluid for a 2002 Justa Cooper? Bently manual says Esso - CVT E2L 799 but I can't seem to be able to find it. ProMini has it for about $95/gal but book says I need 4.5 qt and don't want to buy 2 gal. Thanks in advance.

You can get it from the dealer, they will sell it by the quart (or at least, many of them do). However, check with your dealer first - when I called mine, the fluid was going to be around $180, and they would do the flush/fill themselves for $180. So I let them do it - why not, at the same cost?

Other than the dealer and ProMini I don't know of anywhere else that sells it.

Does anyone know if this CVT fluid is OK for the MINI?

ENEOS CVT CS Synthetic Constantly Variable Transmission Fluid

It's available from Amazon.com for about $10/qt

Stick with OEM. You don't want to gamble the cost of your CVT to save a few bucks.

Agreed. At a $7500 replacement, I wouldn't screw with it.

I have no affiliation with this person:

Last time I did a fluid change I bought the oil from the dealer.

I still have some ESL 799A fluid left from the 20L keg I bought. Will sell for 18.00 qt + shipping UPS ground cost. I just sold 5qts to a guy in LA who accidentally drained the transmission instead of the motor oil. Send me PM if interested. Will sell between 3 and 6 qts.

Looks like there is a typo in the manual, if so, the EZL 799 *which googles correctly for the application can be bought here.

The correct fluid is EZL 799A. (the A probably doesn't mean much). The price at worldimpex is just too good to be true. I found a place that advertised the fluid by the quart, but when I placed the order, they could not deliver. That's why I had to buy 20 liters.

Tahoe Ron, I'm looking for CVT fluid also and was wondering where you bought a 20 liter keg and what it cost per liter? Thanks

I did a search on the internet for "EZL 799A" and found a couple places. I paid about $20/liter for it with shipping. I you need 4-5 quarts, I have some to sell ($18/qt+shipping). I sold 4.5 quarts to a guy in LA a couple of months ago. If you don't need 20 liters, its a problem to get that much. Let me know if you are interested. --- Ron

Just had the CVT Fluid changed at Precision Imports here in NH. Total paid was $ 196.77 which included NH State Inspection. They service Mini, BMW & other Imports . Family owned Business.
