R 95 replacement tires-non RF
R 95 replacement tires-non RF
Hello all!
I am looking to replace my RF bridgestones with non-runflat tires. As many of us know, runflats are NOT the best
. My second set, that went bald after about 10000 miles...doesn;t matter if you rotate, align, certainly did that. I currently have R 95s on 205/40/18 (2005 JCW) Problem is, with this size, most of the tires available are run-flats. There are 2 that I know of in this size: Yokohama S drives and Nitto Gen. Here is my question: Will it make a difference if I up the size: 215/40/18, this gives me more choices (about 27 at Tire Rack). Aspect ratios? Recommendations? I appreciate your time.
Thanks!

If you look at the Tire Rack site, they have circumference, diameter, revs per mile for most tires. I'd just look at the tires in your sizes and compare them to other tires in the two sizes you're thinking about. I don't think there are standards to sizes unless it's come about recently. I'm going from 205/45-17 to 215/45-17 and most people who have done it like the ride and look, so it may be the same with the 18's.
One thing I intend to do soon is check my speedo against my GPS and see how correct it is. If it's reading fast, I can go to a larger tire without netting any more speeding infractions. Haven't had a speeding ticket since 1977 when a moron gave me a ticket for 57 in a 55. The judge had words with him.

Just checked the speedo. At on indicated 60, the GPS shows 56-57. At an indicated speed of 60 on the GPS the speedo shows 63-64. I'm thinking a move up from 205 to 215 should correct it just fine. There is only .3 inches difference in diameter, so I doubt if it would even be noticeable.
