R50/53 Buying an 05 minicooper S stick
Buying an 05 minicooper S stick
Car has 101,000 miles. Was wondering if I should be worried about the turbo needing to be rebuilt and how much it would cost? How do their transmissions hold up? Also what other mechanical/electrical problems I should be aware of. According to seller..car was maintained very well. Thanks in advance!
05 MCS's are supercharged, not turbocharged. Best to post this inquiry in 1st gen forum to get specific answers.
clutches, flywheels, steering racks and pumps, etc etc the 1st gen cars have their share of issues, even at lower mileage, and at 101,000 miles, well, since I owned an 05 MCS I have only one thing to say: buyer beware.
good luck

Yea I'd also be worried about things like the cooling fan and air conditioning. The cooling fans tend to last like 60k (I think mine went at 62k) and my A/C went at about 55k. Also check the power steering pump, the motor mounts, control arm bushings, and the CV joints.
IMHO unless you're getting it for less than like, $8000, I'd keep looking. 100k is pretty high mileage, especially for an 05. I have an 05 than I drive ALOT and I only just rolled to 70k last Sunday.
