Has anyone yet tried to turn OE or aftermarket rotors on their MCS? Any isues with sufficient material to allow this ? Have others had brake rotor warping or needed resurfacing as early as 10000 miles?

Under normal use, no.
Under heavy track use, yes.
You'll have to check if there is enough material to resurface or turn the rotor if needed but replace if warped from overheating.

You may find a minimum thickness number stamped in the disc "shell" ... and it should be 19mm for the ventilated factory rotors.

I was told by the dealer that they don't turn the rotors, just replace them.

Does anyone know about the aftermarket big brake kits? If you can turn them you could get your money back in just not having to buy new every time from the dealer.

I have a couple on my site, but for most just the upgraded rotors and good brake pads are enough, i have yet to have a problem with my slotted/ and crossed drilled rotors using stock calipers, I drive hard and race often, but not everyweekend, if not me my wife is racing the mini....

Stamped on the stock rotors are minimum thickness:
Front 20.4 mm
Rear 8.4 mm

I agree wholeheartedly with the dealer on this one. Turning rotors should be a last-ditch effort to save a few bucks, and it can end up costing you more than the cost of just new rotors. Turning can induce new runout and thickness variation, and can lead to excessive pad wear and heat build-up. Don't turn unless there is no other alternative, and then, only have them turned on-vehicle.

Its a waste of time and money to turn the rotors. A new rotor is only $45.
