I think it depends on how outgoing you are. I think for me, 1st choice is with a friend, second choice is go solo rather than miss out all together

Alone or with someone, you will have a great time. Many come alone, couples, and even some crazies like me that bring the whole family including my 17 year olds girlfriend.

You won't be alone at all

I'm sure that if you come you will meet a lot of nice people. Sign up for the dinner and when you are walking around looking at other cars you need to open up and introduce yourself. The Mini Cooper group of people are like a big club without dues. You will never know until you try.

Remember this, If alone you meet a lot more people then if with someone. It seems that if you already are with someone you just don't introduce yourself around as much.

I have been with my Daughter twice and by myself once. This year is a tossup as to whether she is going or not. But I am going either way and you are sure to meet people to hang with. You will have fun either way!

There are a bunch of people that come alone, including myself... you will always find someone to hang with and will never be at a loss as to what to do next...

Two words will make you friends with anybody. "Wanna beer?"

Two words that will make you friends with everybody: "Free Beer!"

Seriously, you've already "met" folks here. Now you get a chance to meet them in person. Look at people's profiles, pics, signatures with their MINI and then wander around and find them in person. You'll only be alone if you choose to be alone.

You can't spend MOTD alone unless you try. Hard. This will be my 7th trip, and I've never been left alone while there. I am one ornery, unsociable ****, and I always seem to find groups to hang out with. Sign up for some of the dinners or organized drives, and you'll make new friends from every corner of the country! (Even if you don't wanna!)

This is my first Dragon and I will be going as a loaner as well. But I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I signed up to help volunteer too. There is a thread here for that and should be a real good way to meet people and help the event out.

Can't hardly wait!!

New MINI owner here! I live in NC and would love to go. Actually did that exact zip line trail back in August with a friend and we paid $69!!!

I'm starting a new RN job next week and won't have a schedule set for a week or so. I mentioned this to a friend (also started new RN job) and she thought it would be fun. If at the last minute we found out we could go, maybe even for a day or two, (or by myself even) how hard does anyone think it would be finding accomodations?

Thanks

Actually, I'd love to camp, even have a popup, but that would require taking the Tribute... too heavy for the MINI. When I was a kid, just a few years ago , we used to camp through the Blue Ridge every summer, so some of these places I've been to before. It would be neat to go back and see what's changed.

Either way, I won't know what kind of time off I have for a couple more weeks, so I'll be doing this as a last minute kinda thing.

I've always gone with someone but I think by myself I would have fun too... Just bring a walkie-talkie with you so you can join in on conversations when you go on drives with everyone!

Bringing the wife along even though I have given her every opportunity to stay home since I don't think she is overly thrilled about the trip.

Yea, the last time my wife rode with me on a drive she said it was her first and last.... she just did not like the barf bag very much. I can not say that I could blame her. I too would be a terrible passenger, I could not ride on something like this. This time our youngest son (17) will be riding along. He never gets motion sickness. Going solo should be cool, most of the shorter club drives are that way for me. I'm sure you will have a great time.

I've always had a friend tag along (and two awesome sports so far, no chunk blowers yet :P), bit I would make the 10-12 hour drive alone readily, because even if you motor into Fontana not knowing anyone, you will motor away knowing everyone. None of us (that I know of) bite... so come join the party!

I'm with Paul...motor in alone but no way you'll feel alone when you get there. MINI drivers are typically pretty laid back, open, and friendly...that's been my experience anyway.
