taking on water in the rear

The rain diverting strip over the rear window is not sealed well. I can pull it out but I can't get a sealing caulk to hold to the rubber. Battery well is filling up. Can't be good. Suggestions appreciated.

Buy a new rubber gasket?!
I would check the rubber gasket around the 3rd brake light...it is foam...and can get dirty and leak pretty bad.....

definitely not good!! A few things back there leak. The third brake lamp, the plastic retaining clips under the chrome trim molding, the rear wiper rubber grommet, and I've even seen the passenger compartment vents under the bumper cover leak. Best thing to do is take that panel off the rear hatch and have someone hose it down while you find the leak from the inside. good luck! and if you dont stop the water now it WILL cost you alot in the long run!!
