Beltline install

OK, I did my beltline a year ago, but very badly. About to do it over, but hopefully better this time.

I discovered last time that there were areas where the tape was slightly wider than the chrome. First time I just let it overlap the black trim a bit.

One of my club mates however mentioned that he ran his under the black molding. How does one actually do that? Mine seems fairly stiff, not pliable like a rubber strip that could be easily lifted. Plus, I can't visualize the steps. How does on get the tape in place, then lift the molding and tuck in under? I'm not seeing it in my mind...

Any ideas would be welcome...Thanks!

I accidentally pulled one for the belt-line pieces off of my MINI once, the one on the passenger side between the door and the boot. I can't remember 100% but I think it pulls straight up. Kind-of like the clips that hold the interior trim for the backseats, at least thats what I remember.
