Navigation & Audio Dice in 2007 Cooper
Dice in 2007 Cooper
I'm big on my iPod so when I bought my Mini last month one of the first things I wanted to do was get some sort of real iPod integration. A friend said to go with the Dice kit so I picked one up. Everything I read said it connected into the CD Changer cable that I'd find in the back of the car in a bundle. I saw a bundle with a big plug so I thought I was good to go.
Now, after completely disassembling my Mini's inside/dash area (because I thought maybe assuming it was in the back was incorrect), I've learned that I apparently do not have the CD Changer wiring. So now I have a Dice, a 2007 Mini and I can't do anything.
So here's my question... is whatever enables the vehicle to have the CD changer capability just a connector that plugs into whatever the large connector is I have in the back or is it something that requires the spedometer to be removed again etc.? If it's something I just plug into the back, almost like an adapter, where can I find one and how much would it be?
Save me before my poor husband kills me for making him take apart my car (thank God he's a mobile electronics installer).

Please tell me that what I'm reading here doesn't say it's only compatible with the convertible?

You may have a problem there. The First Generation MINI's were 2002 to 2006 for the coop (hardtop) and up to 2007 for the Convertible.
If you have a 2007 Coop then you have a Second Generation car.
What part number did you purchase?
mO-BMW-48 is the correct part number for the 07 coop hardtop with or without Navigation.
But also depending on the month your car was made during 07 as to whether it may or may not have the proper wiring for the CD Changer. Many early 07 cars did not have all the option capabilities of the 07's built after June 07.
Look at the drivers door frame and it should say what the month and year of manufacture are. and let me know what that is. From there I may be able to help you a little more.
