Help!!! Someone stole my mirror cap!!!

I recently went out and parked my car out on the street and when I came back later someone had stolen the mirror cap off my mini and only from the drivers side. I am not sure if they broke the tabs as most of them seem okay but one seems to have a very rough edge. I am wondering if anyone has a picture of what the mirrors should like like with the caps off and if one broken tab means needing a replacement mirror. Also if anyone knows of a good cheap place to buy replacements as I don't have much $$$ laying around that would be great.

I'm not positive they have it but doesn't hurt to check certifit.com or you could always try eBay lol

Photo 4 in this thread gives you a pretty good photo of how the cap's retaining clips loop over the studs in the mirror housing.

The just dont come off, and it's not necessary to remove the mirror glass but helps a lot.

Check the NAM Marketplace - don't know what color yours are, but many people swap theirs out for a different color and then put them up for sale here. Otherwise, you *should* be able to get a new one from the dealer for around $50.

eBay has pretty cheap ones most of the time. Just make sure you get R56 caps and not an earlier generation.

NEVER pull the MIRROR off. Those are Gen 1 instructions.

I posted this in the HOW TO section WITH pictures...

I second that. I took a quick look at NAM Marketplace for 2nd Gen Mirror caps, and I found many for sale ads. Check them out.

I find that Marketplace is a great location if you're looking for a 1/2 decent price on a Mini accessory or part.

Thanks for the help guys, how do I know if my mirrors are power folding or not? I am pretty sure they are not but would like to make sure that they aren't before buying new caps. Is there that much of a differences between the power folding and non power folding caps?

They're only powerfold if you have the ability to push a button and have your side mirrors fold in. If you have to ask, you likely don't have this feature.

However, if you really want to be extra safe, you can call a Mini dealer, give them your VIN# and ask.
