Any 2006 busted CVTs on this forum?

So,
another CVT post:

My 2006 CVT has only 15K KMs. I love it. BUT, there is a "cancer" in the back of my mind about all horrors of CVTs... Now, I spoke with a few people in my dealership and they all said that Mini DID DO a change in reprogramming (or some other mumbo jumbo) CVTs on 2005/2006.
Anybody on this forum had a problem with CVT on 2005/2006?
Please, advise.

You will drive yourself crazy worrying about your transmission. If you do not have an extended warranty then maybe you will feel better if you get one. The Midlands transmissions suck and hardly anyone complains about them...

My 2006 (with 103k miles) has a very slowly dying CVT. It still works, but has issues engaging from park.

Yes, 103k miles on the odometer. Lots of driving.

I'll be trading "up" by the end of the month. Wish I didn't have to, but have to before it fails completely and has no value.

I've replaced enough CVT's to not trust them. Don't want to scare you but it's the truth. If you can get an extended warranty that will cover it, you'll be alot better off cause they are expensive.

I had an issue with my CVT consistently selecting too low of a ratio when I lifted the throttle at 65 - 70 MPH. It would cause engine braking (~4,000 RPM) until I got back on the throttle -at which point it would increase the ratio and cause the engine speed to go back down below 3,000 RPM. The MINI tech gave me some advice I thought was complete BS, expcept that it actually worked. He told me to drive around all day in sport mode for one day. After that, I never had the odd ratio selection problem again. The enginee speed would just slowly decrease when I lifted the throttle as expected. Very strange.

well...i have an 03 Cooper w/CVT, and was getting paranoid. When i really gunned it i used to be able to hear a faint, but high-pitched whine. She recently hit 50,000 KM, and I had the transmission fluid done (parts and labour were abt $250), and now she runs smooth as silk.
Actually, I'm in Toronto too, so if you want a mechanic reference in the GTA, my guy seems to know what he's doing. You probably have it figured out anyways tho.
In any case, if you're only at 15,000km, there should be nothing to worry about! What's getting ya exactly?
