I need a 03 stock head unit
i got what you need. email me at dashboardfan1787@hotmail.com and maybe we can work out a deal. thanks
I was in the same boat when I tried to connect my Roady sat radio to my stock 2002 head unit. The radio doesn't recognize the factory auxiliary input. You might want to just fork up the $110 or so for the Blitzsafe auxiliary input adapter that connects to the factory CD changer wiring in the boot. It worked like a charm.
I'm installing a new radio this morning,so if you're interested reply to this email...Mine is from a '04 cooper S with 25 miles on the car,the radio has had very very little use...if not interested ,it will be in Ebay...Thanks. I accept pay-pal.(credit cards, debit cards etc)
>>I have an Mar 02 modl and it doesn't support the aux input. If you have a stock one from 03 laying around I'd love to buy it from you.
Not sure if you're aware and if this helps but Denison makes an adapter for all MINIs that plugs into the rear of the head unit that gives you an aux out straight to an iPod: http://www.bridger.us/mini/?Y=2003&M...nallyConnected and http://www.bridger.us/mini/?Y=2003&M...leForPre-order.
This is a substancial improvment over the standard AUX port and MINI in fact is looking at making this a dealer installed accessory in the next year.

I never found a used head-unit - but did purchase a blitzsafe aux input kit which kicks ***
got it from Rspeed.net
http://www.rspeed.net/mini/item.asp?...4&prod=M20-603
yer in luck- looks like its on sale
It installs in the boot- where the cd changer would be- I ran the cables back up through the car and installed two sweet RCA inputs into my parcel shelf- plug in under there- all set.
lemme know if you need any help

Wow... thanks for the SPEEDY reply! I've got the factory CD changer... does that complicate things? And RCA inputs? Does that mean that you have to use a mini-plug (headphone out on the MP3 player) to RCA cable to plug stuff in? And how does the thing know which source to use - CD vs MP3?
And of course the big question... how did you route the cables all the way back up to the dashboard???
Thanks again

all good questions
The blitzsafe comes in two models- the one i sent you is to replace the changer- but they have one that works in tandem with it as well- also on the rspeed site.
The blitzsafe unit has rca inputs but you can easily use mini if you like by plugging in an adapter.
To run the cables i cheated big time- I drilled a small hole under where the back seat meets the boot and threaded the LONG rca cables out of there and under the back seat- then up through the center console (slightly but very neatly visible in only two points) and then up through the center column behind the radio and over to the parcel shelf-
It was suprisingly easy and I didnt even have to remove that many parts- the rca inputs in the dash were my own touch- just because I thought it was cool and a little different- but I could have just as easily installed a mini input- like the factory aux.
I think i can dig up some pics if yer interested- I havent written up the install on my site yet. but it should be coming soon.

Cool site man - now added to my growing list of MINI repositories.
But $99 bucks for the AUX input... OUCH! I thinkI'll pursue a head unit for a bit before investing in that. I'd REALLY like a 2005 unit that reads MP3 CD's, but fat chance of finding that anywhere!

I've added an 03 head unit to my 02 MCS and everything is fine. Aux input works and the new xm direct w/blitzsafe works with head unit and xm being control through the MFSW.
Was it tough to swap the 03 head unit in? Any difference in wiring or lessons learned to pass along?
And where did you find the head unit? It seems like everyone with an 02 is looking but no one is finding!
