Warranty/Service Questions

Happy New Year. I took delivery in December 05, MINI C Convertible from BMW/MINI Sterling VA. 25,2500 mi. so far. Took her in for over-due services - they are so far from my home. They completed "Inspection 1" and sold me new tires. It cost me a bundle, nice as they were...

So I learn that my warranty is out? Or, did they mean service? (I was shell shocked.) Can that really be? Shall I shop around for extended warranty (my hunch is no - been blessed with only one problem-thermostadt, but please advise). Have resource available to get competitive pricing (my bro sells Land Rovers).

Definition of terms, please: 1st generation? 2nd generation? R50? R53? Others?

You have a 1st Generation (2002-2006) R52 (Cabrio/Convertible).

3yr/36K Service Warranty
4yr/50K Warranty

Had you been taking the car in for the free oil changes?

What tires did you end up getting through the dealership?

Thank you for quick reply. Yes, on oil changes. The tires are Continentals (which my brother says they use at the land Rover dealer).

Your car only had a factory warranty of 4yrs or 50k miles. So by time you are probaly out of warranty.

As for aftermarket warranties. You really need to shop around. We do alot of warranty claims and some companies are better than others. But the biggest thing is read it all, there is alot of fine print. Some have deductables and some don't. Some only covered listed items, which I've had problems with that as a specific item wasn't listed. Just some FYI
