Detailing Day - 9:00 AM 2/20/10
Intrigue Detail in Lakewood has invited us to a free detail session on Saturday, Feb 20 from 9:00 AM until noon.
This session will include a facility tour of Club Auto, which if I'm not mistaken was the same place that hosted the unveiling of the Gumpert Apollo.
It will be an open forum for any questions the entire time so this the perfect time for novices and detailing masters alike to come out and learn some new tricks.

Yeah I'm thinking about all of the different uses for it. It came yesterday but apparently I can't open it yet because it's a "Christmas present" ......
I also got Richards DVD which I can't wait to watch.

I'm hoping to be there for the first couple of hours too. As you probably already know, Intrigue sells our Prima line (our chemicals and some of our microfiber).
I look forward to seeing our fellow detailing fools!

can i join, then?
Hey y'all,
I am a mini owner in the Springs and I am wanting to join the 5280 club. If weather is good I want to make the Detail Day. Can I bring my application and join the club that day?
Thanks for letting me know, Trace

Yes.
Trace, you can get your application to us by many different means. You can mail it, submit via PayPal online, or hand deliver. As for the preferred method? I'm not sure, Kim or Rick might chime in on how they would like to receive it.
Welcome and we cant wait to see you there. Think about attending the After the Holidays Party too, it's a great way to meet the other members of the club and enjoy some pretty great food.

Fun session, very nice facility with some great classic cars and race cars.
Pictures of the detailing session plus a teaser or two here. .......
If you get the chance stop by the Museum or get some work done by Intrigue Detail. Nice work.

Thanks for the pix Don! They are great. I so wanted to be there, alas i was not. So my next question for y'all is what snow tires do I need? Does anybody use a winter set and a summer set? Any input here would be great...

Tracey - I for one use both. Winter set goes on in October and come off in March. This usually means they go on just after I needed them and come off just before they should have. Oh well - can't out guess the Mother.
I run Blizzak snow tires and I have had good luck with them. I drive my MINI every day so I need a tire I can count on.

Mine is an 09 S I use as a daily driver, and I also went with a set of winter tires and rims. I tried Yokahama tires, but I am not all that pleased with them. I have used Blizzaks in the past, which seemed better. I expect I will go back to Blizzaks next time I need winter tires.
Thanks for y'alls input. I am still in the research mode, and all information is helpful.
I currently am running Yokohama Avid H4's 215/45r17 91H. I think they are a complete non snow tire. I was in Manitou Springs and had to pull to the side of the road to let a truck by on a skinny, little, very steep road, their was ice in the gutter, but the rest of road was fine. I had to get pushed out
. One front tire touching ice, no way...WAY.
That's when I knew I needed something. I bought my cooper s used and want to treat her right, but I need to be able to use it, too. These are the tires she came with, and they are on some sweet carbon fiber looking rims.
So here are the questions:
1. Is 17" or 16" wheel better for snow?
2. If I have 17" wheels already, do my snow tires wheels need to stay the same size?
3. Since it's an S, there is no spare. We take long cross country trips, say 3000+ miles during summer. If I get a 2nd set of snow tires, we would want to take one as a full size spare for the long haul. Do the wheels need to be the same size?
thanks, tracey
