Dinner Drive to Rivers End Restaurant

On April 29th (Thursday) we will have a Dinner Drive to Rivers End Restaurant
located at the Nantahala Outdoor Center.
The restaurant sits right on the Nantahala River with indoor and covered porch
dining available.
The menu is moderately priced with anything from hamburgers to pizza.
We plan to depart Fontana Village at 3:30pm from in front of the General Store
and return in time for the Dragon Bingo.

Please indicate your intention to join by adding your name.

Can't make it on this drive as we'll be on the Elk's drive/dinner... but thanks for turning us onto a location for another night's dinner!

If you have a chance and the river is running, walk up to Nantahala Falls from the restaurant. It's a couple 100 yards or so. This is the photo-op drop for the river where most of the "carnage" happens. The Nantahala is kind of a rite of passage for beginning whitewater canoeists and kayakers and the last drop is the final exam. The water is extremely cold all year and rolling in a kayak or canoe can give a pretty good ice cream headache. Definitely fun to watch, especially as younger paddlers make their first successful runs.

Yup. I can vouch for that. My first trip, 3 out of the 4 in my raft popped out on the last drop, and cold does not even begin to describe it

I took my Girl Scout troop kayaking down that. They all did great, but I'm the one who almost fell out. Somehow, by the grace of God I stayed in but it was quite an experience.
