Great website and having lots of fun here. I do however have difficulty finding things sometimes.

For example, I want to look for postings about tracking ships loaded with our cars. When I do a search on this I pick a thread and it places me at the first posting of a thread that has hundreds (or sometimes thousands) of entries. Needle in a haystack comes to mind.

Am I missing some functionality here? Other web sites I frequent put you right at the posting that contains your search criteria.

 

Unfortunately this is one of the many limitations of our current software. As soon as I can get a new template from my graphic designer I'll be starting a migration to new software that will resolve this and, hopefully, many other usability issues we have with the current software.

Tracking a USA MINI

How long from the Oxford Plant to your USA dealer?

For me it started with a Production Number. I'd use that production number to call 1 866 ASK-MINI They will tell you the status of your car. Some reps are more helpfull than others. Some will actually give you your car's status code or say the words "you are in the paint shop" or "you are waiting transportation" (like waiting for the train to take you to the dock).... When you get to status 112, your order is set and can't be changed and within 2-3 days you will be given your car's VIN number.

You and your VIN number will then spend all your time on this site :

W/W Cargo Tracking
Click the word AUTO and enter your complete VIN number. (after you do this 100 times, you will have your MINI's VIN number memorized)

W/W is updated in real time because they use bar-codes that are on your MINI. I've seen cars being removed from one ship and 10 minutes later loaded onto another. You can track the ship and when it says it has sailed - it has sailed!!!

There are two weather sites that receive weather information from ships. We have those maps in our Can't Wait 4 Nov Club - page 33. It changes when ships report in. When you join your Can't wait club, you'll be in good company tracking these chips like blood hounds after an escaped convict! CLICK HERE and go to page 33 to see the current maps.

The best advise is to join the "I Can't Wait 4" club for the month your dealer is saying your MINI will be delivered to you. We have had a great time in the Nov club and the cars are starting to roll in and be delivered. Some are being produced, some are on ships, some are just being delivered to the VPC..... It is very exciting and the people in the club totally share your pain of waiting and the joy of each new status change!!!
