Rookie Shops for Tires

OK. Well even before I took delivery of my '09 Clubman S six months ago I read many times how chucking the stock runflats (195/55/16) and getting some higher performance non-rof's was a night&day change that I should seriously look into. Well I must admit not only are my tires making more noise than ever Im noticing much less traction (squealing, slipping etc) through turns than when they were new. So, yes Im gonna chuck the basturds!

But now a couple days and a few hours of reading many many posts in this forum my head is spinnin. I could start by saying that I'll be driving in a cold , freezing temps but not much snow at all, etc etc but I figure I want to understand it more fully. It seems that not only do I have a lot of choices but I guess I dont even have to go with the same size tire! Man, I got a lot to learn it appears. So, with that said Im hoping someone can point me to some good info on tires and tire selection. I was hoping there was possibly a newbie guide out there to help school me?

While I dont mind at all, perusing through a lot of posts, hearing others opinions etc, its making coherant sense out of it all thats the problem so... Im hoping some of you out there can point me to some good newbie info. Thanks in advance!

First off log on to www.tirerack.com, you will find a wealth of information on there, then if you have more questions call Alex @ TireRack he is a Tire Expert and really knows his stuff!!

Good Luck, it is a daunting search, but when you finally get the right tire for you you will wonder why you hadn't done it sooner, as I have. Just installed Bridgestone Potenza G 019 Grids (195/55/16) last month and I absolutely love them.

The runflats don't bother me. I had a set of go-flats and didn't see (hear/feel) a lot of difference. I'm currently running a set of Continental 205/55R16 runflats on my '07 R56 S.

Wow. Thats the first I've ever heard that. I'm thinking it might have a lot to do with what tire you run???
