R57 and the iPod adapter availability

We bought my wife a new MCS convertible (took delvery in late April) and opted for the iPod adapter. This is the one where the iPod is stored in the hidden compartment. We also opted for the upgraded stereo.
Upon delivery, the salesman informed us that was an issue with the iPod adapter and the R57 and it could not be installed. Has anyone else had the upgraded stereo and iPod adapter installed in their R57?

Check in if you have the iPod adapter installed (from the dealer) in your R57.

I have the iPod adapter installed in my '10 R57 but the cable is underneath the stereo in the little bin area, not in the hidden compartment.

There is a conflict with the Hidden Compartment iPod adapter and the HiFi stereo on some cars Not all. Here are the options.

HiFi stereo With Out bluetooth/USB option - Yes you can have the iPod adapter installed for the secret compartment.

HiFI stereo With bluetooth/USB option - MINI will normally Not install this even though it can be done with software changes. But if you do have the bluetooth/USB option then there is no need for the secret compartment option as the USB port in the center stack has the ability to work with the iPod.

The one that mounts in the secret compartment is a dealer installed kit that connects to the CD Changer wiring, whereas the Bluetooth version in the center is the factory installed option (I think that one runs on the CAN bus, and not the CD changer).

Correct except that it runs on the MOST Bus (media oriented system transport)

Shatzy62,

Thanks for the reply. What criteria is there that would prevent the aftermarket iPod adapter from being installed in a HiFi equiped non-bluetooth stereo?
