I'd like some feedback about metal floor mats from anyone who uses them.....what are the pros and the cons for daily use.

Assuming that they look halfway decent, I guess the main con would be that they're probably incredibly uncomfortable. I'm picturing being the passenger and trying to rest my feet any other way than flat on the floor, and it ain't pretty.

I have them. I use them for "SHOW ONLY". When they get wet they are very slippery. And they tend to scratch easy. But they look good as you can see. I made mine myself. Refuse to pay the $$ they are asking for them on some of the sites.

Very tacky IMO. There are many good looking after market mats, however metal ones aint it. Whats wrong with the OEM ones?

simmah down nah! He only gave his opinion, no need to attack him.

I've seen these mats in other minis and I agree they look good for show, they have that cool rally look to them. But they are expensive!

Nobull how did you cut them? Was it hard to make?

Well to add to the opinion dont mean squat department, I think that they are very unattractive and very un-MINI like. No offense to anyone that likes them.. I just dont dig um.

For a show type mat I could say OK, but for an everyday floor mat – NO WAY. Rain, dirt, now mud and everything brought in to the car will only go straight from your shoes to the pedals. This is not a safe way to drive.

Let's see. Cars started out with metal floor boards. Then some sort of linoleum. Tnen came carpet.

Now back to metal? No way for all the reasons stated above. It may look cool for shows, but what would the point be? It's not a street rod.

There are many cool MINI mats by MINI and others. Just IMHO.

Red

I have them. It's been raining here for a week now and I have no problems. Yes they do dirty up but they wipe off easy.

Forgetting for a moment that I think these things look ridiculous, I'd be concerned with using them on an everday basis. They must slip around somewhat when you enter/exit the car and I would think after a while the edges would start to cut into your carpet.

I guess if you're using them for show, it's not an issue.

I'd find them to be hard on my leather driving shoes...

I use them as my regular floormat and have had no problems. The edges are sharp and kind of dangerous though. They probably are slippery if really wet, but I have had no problems when using wet shoes or anything.

It's not too shiny during the day since mine have a somewhat brushed diamond plate aluminum finish. They really look great at night creating these weird flame like reflections in the interior.

I agree their not for everyone, but I really love them. They're pretty cool to look at too
