2010 MOTD General Q & A

Well, I've begun the planning process for the 2010 MOTD. Typically I try to get the ground work laid out between now and the Holidays and then open registration the first week of January.

Please feel free to post any qeneral question on the event here.

Ok, so I am new to the MINI, had mine for 10 days. It keeps a smile on my face, that's for sure.

So what is this Dragon you speak of?

It's like dying and waking up in MINI Heaven Here is the main site with all the details MINIs on the Dragon

Here is the skinny on it: It the largest annual gathering of MINIs in the US. Last year over 600 people register for the event. It takes place from April 28th to May 2, 2010. Each day there are group dinners, day drives and other events to take part in, such as the Brewswap and Bingo. Then there is of course the Dragon itself, an 11 mile stretch of US 129 with 318 curves. Then put all that in the beautifull mountains of North Carolina, spinkle in over 400 MINI Coopers and you have indeed found heave on earth. (can you tell I like this event?)

Here is an older aerial view of Fontana Village..
A few things have changed since this picture was taken but for the most part the layout is the same.

For a really different view of Fontanna Village click on this link and then when it loads click on "Bird's eye" You will have to drag it around to see it but a little different then "Google Street Level"

so far it looks like PittStop is going with the Bingo night again. I know that the Monte Carlo night was a boat load of money to put on

I have had my MINI since late May 2009 and I am interested in coming to this year's MINIs on the Dragon. It takes place over my birthday and I think it would be a fun way to celebrate my birthday. I was wondering if vegetarian options are available for the welcome dinner and farewell dinner? These are two events that I would really like to attend if I go to MOTD but the menu concerns me. I would even be willing to bring my own food in if a vegetarian option isnt available (and it is ok with the hosts of these dinners). Does anyone know?

Will there be an event where sponsors will be selling and installing parts? If so, when will this be and is it up on the MOTD website?

JimmyD1--I am a a Taurus and every bit bullheaded to prove it! My husband says we should go for it (a dragon BDay). I plan to plan out details (activities, hotels, etc) this weekend. I am getting really excited about it!

Do you know when you are driving down? We are near Albany so i would guess you will come past us?!?

Sorry about the Aries /Taurus mishap... Shows how well I know my zodiac...My wife is a Taurus so I know how they can be...Anyway I went the 2008 Dragon and celebrated 20 years of marriage and 20 yrs of Army life it was a blast. It is almost a must that you throw your self a b-day bash and post it on NAM so that other miniac Dragoners will come you will have a blast!!!

I am going down on Tuesday I will most likely start out like around midnight so to get there while still light and in time for dinner, Also to get there and get rested before things start on wednesday.

This sounds like so much fun. But I am about to have major surgery and am going to have to miss it again. I only got my MC in January of 2009. But did not know about it last year. :( I will have to try and remember it for next year.

Later edit: nevermind, I'm such a n00b, the site is right under my nose. Highland Rib Run it is :D

If you go to the Directions Page of the MOTD Website and type in your address, it will give you directions to Fontana

Does yone have the older picture of Fontanna? The one that shows the location of each cabin group in relation to the vendor yard?
