R50/53 Chili red/W vs Dark silver/W
CR/W all the way. Not only is a traditional MINI color combo but it is $400 cheaper right off the bat, because it is a solid color. DS/W is nice without a doubt, but almost too common to justify spending the extra dough for a "Metallic" color. Solid colors are easier to repair when it comes to scratches and nicks versus metallic finishes.
Also keep in mind that Silver colored cars are more difficult to see at night, so there Chili Red improves your margin of safety and visibility to other cars at dusk.

I am picking up my CR/W MCS on Friday. Silver is a great color, but somehow the Mini seems to be a car designed for red. Also, watching the Italian Job my eyes always follow the red mini. White stripes REALLY look good on the CR/W combo and with the $400 savings, you can get the cool rally lights.
I think both are great color combinations, I kept switching back and forth just prior to entering my original order and in fact called the dealer once to discuss changing it from CR/W to the dark silver and white.
I settled on the CR/W because of what I decided to do with aftermarket stuff. So, what you need to do is think about what aftermarket things you might want, such as wheels and tires, roof and body graphics etc, etc., they all will be effected by and effect the body/roof colors.
Once you have a good idea on the aftermarket stuff, the decision of which body color will probably wind up making the decision a no brainer. All the color combo's work great, its what you decide you would like to do with all the stuff that comes after the purchase that should be part of your decision making process.

CR/W RULES! I just picked mine up on monday and she is gorgeous!!
Believe me, I had doubts as well. Plus, CR/W IS a very popular combo, which was part of why I was doubting my choice. I also thought that maybe I wanted the depth of color that a metallic paint would provide. But as it turns out, CR has incredible depth and shine for a nonmetallic paint, and DEFINTATELY worth saving the $400 bucks on (for me, I got the HK instead!) It certainly is an eye catcher (which can be a bad thing if you're speeding and catch a cop's eye!)
This is what I did when deciding (I changed my order from EB to CR after about 2 weeks): I closed my eyes, envisioned a place where I would normally park my car (ie home or work parking lot), and pictured myself walking up to my new car... an MCS... and when I got to it, the color was.... RED!!
Guided imagery will reveal a lot!
I've never had a red car, thought it would be fun! It ads a LOT to the "sports car" look/feel that we all enjoy!
Just give yourself time and figure out which color combo fits you best! Remember: it's YOUR decision- don't be swayed by other people's opinions (or you'll NEVER decide!) Everyone has different personal preferences.

>>Chili red/white is my favorite (obviously), but I like it a lot more on the Cooper with the chrome grille. I think on the MCS I'd prefer the dark silver.
And that is the reason why I ordered the chrome mirror caps and the MCS OEM 3 slats front chrome grille.

Black MINIs are beautiful but a maintanenace nightmare. I don't have the time or appropiate place to keep on washing my car every single day.
CR and PW fit the bill for us nicely as they are low maintenance colors or at least hide dirt quite well.

i Love's my DS/B, i can actually go a couple days without washing him and he still looks clean. To me, the silver is a more classic color for a sports car. It definately is not my first choice for many other cars, and in fact was not my first choice for a Mini, but this one had the goodies i wanted. I do like the look and he gets lots of compliments!!
wow... what a tough choice... trust me, Im trying to decide the same thing and having the same problem. One day red is great next it's the silver, etc... I think Im leaning more for the DS

Yes, it is a sicknes. I was asked by another mini owner how I kept my Mini so clean all the time. I just pointed to the bucket of soapy water that I tend to leave full next to the garage door...

Hmm .. tough choice. Originally I wanted a darker color myself for "blending into the crowd" reasons, but ended up with a CR/W (was at dealer ready to pick up same day) and it is smoking. I think CR/W is a great combo. Real head turner too, which could be annoying, but you do feel like a rockstar
It really has to do with your personality, if you want someting that blends in and makes you more inconspicuous, get the DS otherwise I would say get the CR to fully enjoy the Mini experience.
Either way .. have fun!

Either way, you can't go wrong. Soon you'll want to do some exterior mods so it will be "your" MINI. With all the choices of stripes, roof graphics etc. color is not the only pick you'll be making. Keep in mind, you almost can't make a bad choice.
