Curious ?, Why do most sell their MINI?
I have an 09 MINI, not four months old and i love it. I would sell my truck before i'd sell this. It seems that most say that they love their MINI, so why do i see a bunch of MINIS for sale?
Give me some possibilities?

Our Mini dealer is only eight country road miles from our house, so this is no longer an issue.
Lots of people buy Minis for economical transportation and they are just a "car" to them - no emotional attachment.
People change and there needs change.
Some do not catch the "fever" and get addicted to the Mini like me - I confess: I am a MinAC and totally addicted -- how long will I have this addiction?

I am a serial car buyer. I'm on MINI number 3 now so I guess I can say I have an affection for them....but I'm not silly enough to say I'll own this one forever. I've had close to 30 cars in my 30ish years of driving and I had a reason for buying each one of those when I picked it up. But needs and wants change and I move on to the next big thing. The fact that I've had three MINI's does show something, I think it's one of the most fun rides you can get that still has some semblance of economy and practicality, and the extra punch of my current JCW is icing on the cake.
One young friend; between the car payment and insurance payment (on a 2005 MINI) left him destitute and that can take the fun right out of a MINI.
The high resale value (compared to most automobiles) makes selling your MINI a lot less painful than most cars.

based on my terrible 2005 S, which loved the shop, I prob would have not bought another-- save for my awesome dealer. With that in mind, I decided to give the brand one more try and traded in the lemony-fresh 05 for an 09, which is a much better built car across the board.
I had an 06 MCS. Sold it last year and bought a Subaru wagon when my daughter was born and we needed a family road trip car. Because of how well they hold their value I was able to sell it for 80% of what I paid for it, after owning it three years.
On our third MINI too. Replaced our '04 MCa with an 08 MCa, and traded in a Toyota Matrix for a 09 Clubman. Looking at the proposed Coupe with interest!
Expanding family.
Putting two small kids into the back seat is a pain in the butt. I have a 3 year old in a foward-facing seat, and a 5 month old in a rear-facing seat. My MINI is parked in my tiny, one-car garage, which has tricycles, rakes, shovels, etc. all within reach when the doors are opened. All of these things add up to a huge hassle factor every morning when I take the kids to the sitter's house.
The contortions that I have to do to get those kids in the back seat would make you think I have the spine of a boa constrictor, but I don't. My human spine is always letting me know how close I am to pulling some back muscles when I load up the kids.
Not to mention the horrible back seat room. My seats up front have to be moved forward so the kids can fit! I hate having to drive closer to the pedals and steering wheel...
These are the reasons I've been contemplating selling my MINI for a 4-door GTI or WRX. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, because I still love my MINI, but she's getting harder to live with as my family grows...

Ever thought of a Clubman?
I'll probably get rid of mine for the coupe assuming it doesn't look too horrible. A small part is due to me wishing I got certain options I didn't get as well as the attractive prospect of getting a new car for myself. But who knows, I may keep it if I get a cheaper commuter car, it just depends on circumstances.
Not true if you put snow tires on them. i travel Vermont Maine and New Hampshire a lot during the winter with no problems, including more than a foot of snow.
Lemony as someone put it. I just bought mine a few months ago, and eventhough it passed the PPI with flying colors, I bet the guy who sold it to me was having mechinical issues. Now I have the metallic knocking, and sometimes a burning clutch smell. I love the car so I hope that once these things get fixed, hopefully by waranty, that I wouldn't be contemplating getting rid of it.

The extra 3 inches of legroom and third door on the Clubby would definitely make living with kids in carseats easier, but still not as easy as any Minivan with the sliding doors. Sorry to say, while you have a growing family, a minivan would be a better bet than either the GTI or Scooby doo. Especially in a small crowded garage, sliding doors rule!
There are no MINI dealerships up here in NE Pennsylvania yet every other dealreship has at least one used MINI on the lot for sale. And Ray Price Mazda/Honda has 3 beauties sitting right in front. I'm baffled at why they aren't selling. MINIs I've seen at other lots sat unsold for months. Perhaps they were high mile cars.
I love my Mini, have no problems with it, dealer is only 10 miles away, don't have a family, still have a job, car is paid off, but I just want a muscle car (Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, or 370z). So I'm in the process of test driving those cars... Might not like either and stick to my Mini though... So in other words, if I get rid of my Mini It'll be just to get something different, not because there's anything wrong with it.

Things change. I'm fighting right now not to trade mine in on a much cheaper car. Change is the only thing that will make me get rid of my mini. I might go for a used justacooper if I can find one. But I'm still fighting as of right now.
Say what? Many of us already drive MINI hatchback "coupes." i know not what yr referring to here.

OK...well that's the reason I'll be giving when I have to sell Molly!!
