Possible first mini.. decent price?
Test drove an 08 cooper S today with only 8k miles on it. Heated seats, mirrors, tilt mirrors, panoramic sunroof, xenon. I think that's the major stuff.. Mint condition...they want 22,900 for it... I would be trading in my Subaru impreza for it and my payments might come up to be a little more. (60 more a month) Its currently at at saturn dealer so its a no "dicker sticker" What do you guys think?
Without knowing all the details, you might be better off buying a new '09 that is on the lot, haggle the price off the MSRP, trade the Scubie and finance at 1.9% financing.
I agree with the Stig, that price is way too high-not a good deal at all.
ex. new 6 speed manual with premium, cold weather package and xenon is 24,850 MSRP 22,430 Invoice per Edmunds. If you can find a dealer with a car on the lot that is willing to take off 850-1000 off MSRP and you have good credit, you will be in a lot better shape.
Also with the 2008 you are looking at and financing, you are probably looking at atleast 4.5-5% financing on a used car. It's a no brainer, go to a MINI dealer and get a 2009.

Saturn dealers SUCK. Like the other posters, go to a MINI dealership, see what they have, tell them you are paying cash w/o a trade in and get a super price. Then talk about the trade in only after securing a number. Then make the deal.
Options can make a huge difference in original sticker price. I just bought an '08 S that stickered for just over $30k (the original owner kept the window sticker). He also showed me the sales contract showing he paid $30k, although he got the dealer to throw in some optional equipment. A brand new fully loaded JCW can push $40k.
Check Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds to get an idea on price. Although I think both of those sites seem to be a little bit high. If you're near a big city, there should be plenty of MINIs to look at and compare. Good luck!

One more thing for the original poster. The 1.9% runs out on 09/30. Whether or not they extend it is a crap shoot.

I bought a Jcw that msrp listed at 30800 for invoice minus dealer cash with 0.9 % rate for 48 months on july 31st.
If I can buy a Jcw for net cost you should be able to do the same on Cooper S.
