What does this service light mean?

Can anyone tell me what this service symbol is for? I just picked up a 2008 Cooper S and noticed this light is on. Is this for the state emissions or something else?

As I recall, I think it had something to do with a scheduled maintenance. Maybe the inspection sticker due? You can call the service department and they will tell you how to turn it off. I remember getting that one and not being able to figure it out.

It's a low fluid indicator light for smoke screen reservoir option

Must be your MINI is the Green Hornet Edition.....

Yes, the state emissions test was due 3/2009. I had the same warning when my dealer did not reset the date when they did the test. You can reset this yourself. Get your manual and see how to get to that test. Once you get there, hold the button in on the end of the turn signal and the date will come up on the screen. At that point your can set the date when your mini is due for it's next emissions test.

Thanks Greg! Wanted to make sure I was not missing any freebie service from the dealer before I reset it.

I like the smoke screen idea though, then I would have another excuse to use the rear fogs!

Does everyone have this? I don't remember seeing it in any walk-through of the screens. Nor in the book.
