Redid my Headliner!

Well, after hours of hard labor, I redid my headliner! Mine was starting to sag down a little so I tried to just take it off and respray it, then the glue went through the stock fabric and got all messed up, I took it all off, scrapped every last bit of the glue off, then went to Hobby Lobby and bought some fabric! Only spent 10 bones! But I will never do this again, next time I will gladly pay someone to do it! Whatcha Think?

(Those little bubbles I cut with a razor blade and now they lay flat)

Looks good. You need to paint the plastic parts black, and re-upholster the sun visors to match the headliner.

That's what I was thinking too! Glad someone else thinks the same! Maybe I will then! Thanks!

Looks real nice.

I think it looks kind of cool where the white plastic parts "pop", kind of like a white roof on a dark body. It would also look classy if it were black as well.

How long did it take you?

cheers,

dag

Lol, yeah can't beat it for 10 bucks! Took about 3-4 hours because I tried to just respray the old headliner first, then it didn't work so I bought the fabric. I like it though, but I agree, I am on both sides about painting them or not, cause now I kind of like the contrast. Thanks for all the compliments!

Whatever your decision, I'm sure it will look just fine as you've already gotten alot of compliments. In the end, do whatever you like.

I am one who likes subtlety. Right now when someone looks at your headliner they're going to say, "Oh..., you changed the headliner, looks good!" They'll know this because of the different color of the plastic parts and the sun visors. If you paint the plastic parts black to match the headliner, and re-upholster the sun visors to the same color as the headliner, you will have a much more "finished" look. Now when someone looks at your car, they may not say anything thinking that it's stock, or if they have some knowledge of MINIs they may say, "Sweet headliner, nice job!"

Thanks! It's holding up great and everyone thinks it looks great! They do always notice it because of the white pieces so I am keeping them white for sure!

what type of fabric did you use? i'm worried that the spray adhesive will go right through regular cloth material.

I love the looks of that. You may look at painting the white parts the gray color instead of the black. It would still stick out a little but not be so dark you didn't notice them.
