Navigation & Audio new mini w/o harmon kardon system as promised
new mini just picked up dealer said it had the HK system but it does not the owner's manual tell's you to press the note key to go into setup and it shoild go to MINI h/k this is on page 14 of the radio boost cd book. It should also have 8 spkr's it has six. I want the system not the money I payed for it. any idea's or thought's I plan on keeping it for long time...
thanks

Get pictures, documenting what you actually GOT. Get copies of your receipts stating what you PAID for. Send COPIES ONLY to MINI (BMW), stating that you want the HK system, not the money, and ask them how they can expedite this. Include names & statements made to you when you picked up the car.
Also... be prepared to wait about 6 months for resolution (they'll need to order the system; they're not available until at least December; your unit will likely be available out of parts or spares... which will be later still).
But, enjoy the radio you have; and keep sending them copies of the previous package, along with the time elapsed, and any previous promises & names...

just got off of the phone with the dealer she states they are all harmon kardon systems it is just the new one comming out that is on the web site is an upgrade. well to me that is not cool. the web site where you build your own mini shows a standard 6 spkr and the H/K system for $550.00 plus tax. Input would be appreciated.
Thanks again :???:

What on earth are you talking about??????? The HK 8speaker $550 upgrade system won't be available till December 02. That means NOBODY will see one till at least Jan 03.
The current system in the MINI Cooper has an Alpine head unit, not HK. It also has only 6 speakers... these speakers are NOT HK either.
I think you have been seriously misled by this dealer.

Yes sir what to do is the problem now. The dealer sales rep just got back from the mini conference and she has told me repeditely they are all H/K. So document everything and take the first guy's advise. I am suppose to talk to the english rep in the a.m. I understand they are hard to deal with. I will repost tommorrow as to what he tell's me. Problem is I paid in full by check so I will have to put it on hold until I have something in writting from the dealer and or BMW.
I'm sorry, this whole thing is very confusing. How can they charge you for something you didn't get? Dose the sticker actually say HK system $550? There is NO way it does... that's impossible.
Did they mark the car up above MSRP, is that how they got you? This is so simple, the HK system upgrade does NOT exist... simply does not. So they cannot charge you for something that does not exist, so all you have to do is present that info or take them to court over it.... very simple.
The current system in the MINIs is NOT HK either... its Alpine. I took mine out and it's clearly Alpine. Also, the cheap cone speakers are not HK either.
This is all so fishy. Did you buy your car from a MINI dealer or some other dealer? None of this adds up.

I know o.k. when I went to order the car the saleslady "miss mini" insisted I go t the mini-usa web site and make my car there. In the audio sectio is standard and the H/K. when we went in the next day she said she had a yellow/Blk with a H/K on the way. three weeks later I had called several times checking on del date always asking about the H/K saturday when we picked it up again I said are you sure I looked at the envoice I did not see it are you sure Yes replied miss mini. I got home found out via the radio manual to program the H/K you pressed the music note until it said mini h/k. well it never did. Today I called no she said all radio's are h/k you did not order the upgraded one. no i replied there is only one and you said it was in my car and it is not. So now I am to speak with the mini manager in the a.m. I am big into music and really enjoy my tunes. I don't think she did it on purpose but after so manny request by myself to verify this maybe she needs to go to mini finishing school. Other items she did not know was she said the driving lights were programed in, NOT, she did not know how to operate the key entry and said the alarm did not chirp when set. So I don't know I would give it back and reorder or have a signed contract about the system being replaced. What do you think..

What dealership is this? They sound just horrible. It isn't uncommon though to run across MINI sales reps who know little to nothing about the cars they sell. They are just warm bodies in there to sell a product.
Dealer called back tried to say stereo was correct then changed to must be a misunderstanding. Long story short he wants to pay for part of replacing the stereo with something I may want at his contact point. I was under the impression if it cost $550.00 plus tax he should reimburse me or credit me that towards at his price a replacement stereo at his contact place. Not trying to be greaty but want what was promised what do you think..
Dude, you've got them over your knee, legally speaking that is. You gave them money for something they didn't deliver. I'll bet the state's attorney general would love to hear about such practices (
hint). Don't let them get off with "some" of the cost. You gave them $550 + tax. That's how much they are going to give you back. Period. Hell, for the grief it's apparently put you through, I'd say you're entitled to a bit more for your trouble ($575-600 + tax).

Again, make sure "all of your ducks are lined up".
1. Do you have the itemized invoice for your car?
2. Does it have a line item for "HK CD audio system with 8 upgraded speakers...... $550" ???
3. If not, does it have some handwritten "note" to the effect that "includes HK radio +....." with some dollar value that could be construed to CONTAIN the $550?
If you DON't have EITHER (2) or (3), then the dealer will likely pass it off as a "misunderstanding"; regardless of WHAT it actually was. If you HAVE item (2) on your invoice; this is at least "fraud", perhaps even worse (for the dealer). Either way, get all of your data together, and go over it all with someone you trust BEFORE you go marching into the dealership... or you might find them "correcting" or "losing" your invoice while you're waiting.
Good Luck!

thanks david your correct there is no note and nothing on the invoice. Just the sales lady's word. I do have two witnesses one is a navy pilot. the dealer told me the radio was not ready yet but the add in the wall street journal for the BMW has it. that o.k. when they clear coated my car they got a piece of black dirt or maybe pepper on the top of the right front fender. said he would not advise me to fix it as it would always be a problem there after. sure likes telling me what i like and want.
thanks again check out my other problem with the door seal under interior exterior.
water leaks into the car from the roof.
