Anyone or any manufacturer that sells coilovers for under 600?? Just curious because everything I've seen so far has been over 1000.

Neither of you have any experience with these coilovers. They are very high quality parts, nothing like what you would get off of eBay.
They were not built to outperform a set of expensive racing coilovers with 20 adjustments that you will never use on a street car. They are valved to be comfortable on the street and get the car low. The car still handles just as well as it did when stock. You are only paying for the features 98% of the people who buy coilovers will need or are looking for.

The V-Maxx are good considering the price. I wrote an article on them in the Alliance magazine. They are copies of the KW V1 using less expensive components and flimsier damping curves. They get the job done and are perfect for those people that feel the stock MINI's ride is too rough while lowering the car to get a better stance. They are a far superior solution to lowering springs for not a whole lot more money, however they are not worthy of track or auto-x use.

Yeah, they definitely aren't perfect for performance driving. The car feels about the same as stock as far as damping goes. Maybe a bit softer.
I don't think you would have an issue if you take your car to the autocross a couple times a year.

I got them directly from Stratmosphere when they had a set listed on their eBay store. Use Best Offer and they will make you a deal. Or just call them, they will give you a discount if you just ask.

My MINI is basically a daily driver and I want it to be a bit lowered for a better stance while being able to auto-x occasionally during auto-x season (maybe 6 to 10 times a year most). I'm guessing these coilovers match my needs? Is there any other coil overs around this price range?

They are great. My ride is a bit jarring because I don't want to cut the bumpstops, so I have about an inch of travel before I touch the bumpstops.
The closest will be BC and Megan. You can get BC's for about $950 and Megans run about $890.
There are others too. Ksports can be had for $950 on eBay sometimes, and there are these NEX coilovers that pop up on eBay from time to time that run $700 usually.

The Megans / BCs have the dampening and spring rates for autocross and track use.
I know people who occasionally auto-x with the stock MINI OEM suspension set up. If these hold their own against OEM, then they should be ok with the occasional auto-x?

That said, if you're in a class where coilovers are allowed then the V-Maxx will hurt your cause; you'd be more competitive opting for better coilovers [like TSW/KW V2] or keeping it all stock in GS.
