Recently put on M7's heat shield and Ram2 scoop to cure the scoop droop syndrome. After install, I noticed my air intake temps had dropped from 30-40deg. over ambient to only 10-12deg. over. That gave me a hair-brained idea. Finished wrapping the air intake tube with silver thermal tape about an hour ago. Result? Intake air temps are now running only 3-6 degrees above ambient, even when stopped! Wonder what temps M7 and DDM are running as their systems don't appear to be insulated. See, even sagging scoops can lead to something good.

Dwight, how are you measuring your intake temperature? The highest I've seen from my Scangauge is maybe +30 from ambient when idling in traffic. At highway speeds it's right around +5.

 

OOPS! Re-read my post and realized I left out where I was driving. Those temp differences were in stop and go town traffic where I had been seeing 30-40 degrees over amb. Haven't checked it on the highway yet, but if it's only +5, I won't complain. Thanks, Dwight
