On MINI2, there's a rumour that Indi Blue will be replaced. I hope it's not with the Candy Blue. Anyway, those of you who are planning to order one, you might want to make a quick decision. And those who already have IB, I bet your smiling, if this is true.

Yeah, I saw this on Gabe Bridger's site this morning, and it blew me away! Not only a beautiful color, but apparently very popular as well. I definitely thought that it would outlive the electric blue, at least.

By the way I saw my first gold MINI recently. It was... OK.

My jaw hit the floor at this rumor. Lots of the MINI2 people are blabbing that it's too common. While, here in Michigan, I agree - everywhere else I've been, not many IB's to be seen.

If they must get rid of IB, I'd like to see Laguna Seca Blue, like on the E39 //M5, I love that color - oh wait, they're probley too similar

If they're going to drop any color, I think solid gold should be the one. I mean, what the hell were they thinking? I'm sorry if anyone here has one, but eeeewww. IMO.

I went with IB/IB - usually see IB/W and man do I LOVE the IB/IB combo. I have yet to see another in person, and apparently MINI of Towson here in MD has only seen 4 IB/IB cars come through their doors. Also REALLY like the DS/DS, but good GOLLY, you're right on. IMHO that solid gold is pretty runny (though that's only what *I* think!!!)!

Bridger's site says in the summer of '04. I'm planning on ordering one in January for a March/April delivery. Think I'll be safe?

I don't see how they could replace IB. Still, if its not popular in other parts of the world a switch would make sense. They have to change these colors up somehow, right? In the end I guess we'll just have to get used to these little tweaks now and again, and if we whine its just because we care!!!! At least it gives us something to talk about!

I'll admit, I do like IB, but I realize the need for a company to delete some colors and add others, y'know, to keep things interesting.

I agree to an extent, but to me the indi blue seems almost as essential as the chili red. I really hope they replace it with something close.

I've got an IB/W and don't really love the color. It's nice in low light or on overcast days, but in the sun it's way too sparkly and vivid for me. I would love to see a non-metallic dark blue, though. But only after they finally introduce a good non-metallic BRG!

I am madly in love with my IB/W MCS and cannot even begin to conceive of a reason to eliminate this particular color. Too popular? I think I've seen maybe 4 other IBs on the street. Not popular enough? Does not compute: it's the deepest, richest, most dimensional blue I've ever seen on a car. As a rule I *HATE* blue cars (I refer to them all as "engineer" blue, as I've seen staticstically improbable numbers of them in the engineer boyfriends parking lot), I even said to my friend prior to ordering my MINI; "I still have no idea what color I get, but you can rest assured it won't be blue.". But when I saw the IB in person it blew me away...

Ugh. Such a sad, sad rumor!
(Although... I must admit a discontinued color could make my car significantly cooler, as though that's possible... )

I agree about dropping the Solid Gold. I think it looks awful. I wish they would not of got rid of the light green that they used to have. I would of got that with a black top in a sec. I thought it was great! Oh well, my Solid Black will be okay.

Back when I was looking for an MCS I didn't have much to choose from in colors on the lot. LY, EB,GBR/B, then the following week two IB/W. I agree than IB/IB is very rare. The IB/W is very popular in my area but for some reason nobody that drives it is active in our MINI club. Strange.

I love the color and think it is really nice but really hard to keep clean, free of water spots and scratches-maybe those other IB owners are simply smart and don't want to dirty their MINIs? I would be happy if IB got discontinued. That would mean that my IB would be more rare than it is now which I would like.

Replacement color? If you look at the line up if you loose a blue you should gain a blue and a mid to dark non metallic royal blue would be a natural. Blue is a classic so I don't think you can get away with not having a good green, red and blue not to mention decent white and a good black. Why do we have both metallic black and solid black by the way?
Other than we have solid black for mirrors and roofs.

What if you could get your dark silver with a metallic black roof and mirrors? Neat idea. Heard it on MCO first!

i live in an area that has few minis. the nearest dealers are at least 2.5 hrs away in detroit or chigago so i have the only IB that i have seen on the road. there is only about 5 i know of; gold, brg, red, 2 ds's and a yellow. so i dont think its too common or anything

I doubt BMW is doing away with IB for being too popular or too unpopular. It's marketing pure and simple. By doing away with a certain color, it lends instant exclusivity to it. Think about it, IB is already set in stone as the lead MINI in the Italian Job. If it is discontinued, I know that I'm going to be driving around like "Ha - you can't get THIS one anymore (make me an offer...bwahahahaha)" I'm sure there are a few gold owners out there thinking they have one neat-o MINI on their hands, as well as SG owners.

I know VW didn't offer the same GTI colors every year, so I really don't find it all that shocking.

I mean no disrespect, but how can they keep that gold and dump ind. blue?
The head of Mini paint division must be colorblind

Oh well, I already have mine. It will just become more of an exclusive thing. I really think someone in the paint department in Oxford inhaled a few too many paint fumes though... or came to work baked or something. SOLID GOLD.

Soon, mini dealers might have to offer discounts to get their leftover stock off the lot. Makes you wonder what they'll reolace it with. Pink?
