Hole in my exhaust...

So today as we were driving around in my Mini, my dad thought he heard a noise like a little bit of air was escaping from somewhere. So when we got home, we jacked the car up and took a look underneath. He was right, there's a small hole in my exhaust where the weld (should have) come together. Black soot was shooting out everywhere when we turned the car on while he was underneath.

Has this happened to anyone else? It should be covered under warranty right? It's obvious that it wasn't something I did or something I hit, but something that the factory screwed up on. It's just odd that no one saw it in the year I had the car.

I'm going to call Towne Mini first thing in the morning and hopefully have it fixed ASAP.

I think warranty should take care of it if it is workmanship related. All the best.

Its covered under warranty for 8 years or 80k because its part of the smog system.

Called the dealer, they don't have any openings in their schedule till Friday morning... and they won't have any loaners until next week.. Hopefully it's a quick fix.

my guess is that they'll order a new piece and replace. -they won't mess around w/ trying to re-weld it.

That's what I'm hoping for, I just hope they don't try to cheap out and just patch it without even doing a new weld. I've been losing my faith in these Mini dealers over the past couple of months.
